...things like goals, services, and equipment. Hopefully, this will be a smooth meeting. I'm not expecting trouble, but you never know. Tuesday is Caitlin's actual birthday. Unfortunately, rarelylynne will be gone all day with NPR celebrity Peter Sagal. He's doing a major event for the Friends of the NIU Libraries , and Lynne is his liaison. I will be spending the evening in all likelihood...
Not too much going on today. We had a lovely dinner with lilymunster last night after initially going to the wrong hotel. She’s an old Smith College friend of Lynne’s who became an Internet friend of mine over the last year. She was as wonderful as I expected. I got to hear many sordid tales of their glamorous junior year together in Paris. It’s always fun to gaze into my wife’s wicked past...
Last night some friends came round to meet Lynne, and to celebrate that Time Twist has found a home with Dragon Moon Press. A very fun evening, with pretty diverse people mingling well. I only overheard one person attempting to discuss Irish politics with Lynne, so I stepped in brandishing some lethal homemade plum wine, and distracted further upsetting discourse. ramblin_phyl came...
We had a good time last night at the Xiu Xiu concert, but it was an odd scene at the House. It’s usually the club for the aging hipster set, but there were quite a few kids drinking and being somewhat...money to buy more Star Wars Galactic Heroes figures. That made a happy little girl. While Cait’s shopping, rarelylynne and I are writing on side-by-side laptops. The romance never ends. :
Here's a quick blog post before the remnants of Gustav dump on us... Caitlin is still thriving at the new school. The team keeps telling me how impressed they are with Caitlin's intelligence. We're all...going to see Xiu Xiu at the House tonight with Sarah and David. It's always nice when a good band comes to our little town. I also got some Doctor Who swag in the mail. This makes a happy Michael
Who: Colleen & Lynne What: Sleep Over at Colleen's House Where: Colleen's House When: Friday Night Mentioned: Naomi Incomplete Colleen didn't mind the drive out to Bridgeport, mostly because she knew that at the end of it was someone to help her fight the loneliness. Since the funeral, she'd felt like she'd been trapped in her home with no one to talk to, and way too much on her mind. She'd been...
... To make up for the move, the local merchants decided to have a sidewalk sale. We chose the shopping. Downtown DeKalb isn’t much, but there are a few nifty gift shops and clothing boutiques. Lynne bought a silver heart pendant necklace, and Caitlin got a Yellow Submarine t-shirt. I drank a lot of free coffee. We finished at The House coffeeHouse where they had a Dixieland jazz band playing...
Yesterday wasuneventful. Today should be more of the same. Lynnespent yesterday writing like a fiend while I took care of the Cait. The only excitement for me was talking to the Mad Norwegian on the phone about various projects. 2009 is shaping up to be a busy year for the press with 7 to 10 releases. Today I need to get back to Fluid Links . Unfortunately, I’m in a section that sucks out my enthusiasm...
...got to hear all of Steven's tales from WorldCon. He was nominated for two Hugos this year. He didn't win, but they did give him a nifty consolation pen with a flash drive in the cap. After dinner, Lynne had coffee with the author at ye oldeStarbucks. It seemed to go well. After that, we all headed to the reading and signing. The author read a fun short story from an upcoming anthology. We got some...
