Mad Scientists Take Notice

How My Mind Works

I originally wrote a shorter version of this in a friend's blog in response to a response to her request to cheer her up, which yielded this: Your challenge is to write crossover fanfiction combining...to get new kites And bark worse than my bite Plant the seeds Power grows Branching out Taking root That's the deal Sow and reap Spring to fall Bearing fruit With my trees ray I will stump --30-

C-Minus 7: Chili Season

I am pondering various issues with making my first batch of chili next Sunday, thereby formally opening "Chili Season" here in the Deluxe Apartment in the Sky-y-y. Questions: * Mushrooms : Yea or Nay...? [I've had success with all three.] * Deglaze Liquid : I usually use beer when building the fond... but am considering a red wine as an experiment. Is this insane? Thoughts, opinions

Convention Report: Necronomicon 2008

I'm back from Necronomicon 2008, which ran this past weekend at the St. Petersburg Bayfront Hilton. Considering the change of venue, the event ran quite well, largely because of Debra Hicks, Ann Morris... ---END OLBERMANN-STYLE TIRADE--- Anyhow, official after-action reports are still forthcoming. Overall, it seemed like a great convention, so let's hope we get to do it again next year. --30--

scrap/parts places in RTP?

Fwd'ing question for a friend: "Where are the 'builder' stores around here (anywhere in RTP area, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, etc.)... folks that have old/broken electronics surplus, electric motors...with other, better ideas of where to go? (Forwarded the question partly to share the halloween links, partly because I'd like to know where to go for such items that I don't already know about.

Tweaking the Tweak

Further tweaks from my original tweaks: seen here -- http://chadu.livejournal.com/661805.html Fred's original recipe here: http://drivingblind.livejournal.com/393627.html Alterations this time include...tabasco in deglaze fluid. I'ma lookin' at a 9:30 pm feast (roughly). Is strange: thought occurred to me today that making something the same way twice is a sin . That seems to be my cooking philosophy

Administrative post

Hey guys. We've just passed the halfway point of issue one, the first of three installments to cover our first actual story arc. Eleven more pages will take us to the end of this issue, at which point...to 'what the hell does the weasel on page 7 have to do with anything'? It is to answer that sort of question that this community was created in the first place. Please consider sharing them with us

Fun with mad science and the studio album!

How better to begin celebrating my favorite month -- the month that contains Halloween -- than with this announcement: Pre-orders for Red Roses and Dead Things , my first themed studio album, are now...soon, to get an idea of other people's opinions on what should come first, last, where, and when. We may have to cut a song, depending on final track lengths; we don't know yet. Questions? Comments? Glee

Dimensions

It came up in conversation today, and I found it absolutely fascinating. The topic was cosmology, and a theory that our neighborhood is an unusually sparse section of space. Interesting in itself, but...are used for, but it's helping me make my point, so bear with me. † Yes, you can tell the difference between cream and eggshell. I know. You're very special, and always have the same lighting on hand.
