My first class back to hapkido in over a month proved to be a good one. Usually when I am forced into these month-long hiatuses from the art, my first class back is a bit rough: my falls are off, my technique... how these guys fall when they're thrown. Ignore the board-breaking shit though. That crap seems to pervade every art, but as Bruce Lee once pointed out, boards don't hit back. Anyhow... enjoy!

Aikido was introduced to me a little over a year ago, and I find it an incredibly fascinating art. Very fluid, very effortless when done correctly--a "soft" art, like hapkido, only more so. Not a clash... on and off. Learned a little from a former hapkido classmate to start off, and have since been doing some reading and video watching on it. It looks so easy, but there's a science to every movement

I wondered whether I was going to make it to hapkido testing Saturday morning, as my head and my stomach both felt like someone was taking a baseball bat to them all day Friday. Fortunately things had...all. You know how sometimes you can just feel your body growing flubbery and lethargic? That's where I am these days. And I've been on a comic strip kick lately, so let's continue the trend, yes?

Hapkido testing is on Saturday, and I fully intend to go, if only for a chance to work out and review some things. Work has kept me from attending class this last week-and-a-half, and will further keep...that I'm going to be a brown belt forever, just as I was a blue belt forever. Right now I'm guessing that I'll be good to test in September. I'm never going to get my black belt at this rate...

Two hapkido classes tonight. Apparently I need to do a better job of staying hydrated because I'm still fighting off a headache; but at least it's just a mild one, almost unnoticeable. I need to work...But a cat doesn't need a lawn... usually. Just have something that prowls around this place, besides myself. And a companion would be nice. People are fickle, but pets are usually pretty steadfast.
