The NY Times had a story on suicide in today's Magazine, "The Urge to End It." Which is a fascinating story that somehow read as a little more hollow given Thomas Disch 's suicide July 2. (Or July 4th...), but I had heard quite a bit about him. It's always sad to hear that someone has gone through so much in such a short period of time - the death of his partner, threat of eviction. It's just.. so sad

This post will mean v. little to the majority of my flist. Michael Turner, comic book artist and founder of Aspen Studios passed away following his long battle with cancer. He was 37. He's primarily known...bulk of the bone in his right hip. Because of his battle with cancer, in recent years he's been mostly doing cover art. His style is pretty distinctive. I'll have to edit this post later on for linkage

Not a good month for heart conditions. First Tim Russert, then Cyd Charissa (who I can't believe I didn't mention here), and now George Carlin. Sorry George - I hope you don't mind, but I really do need...of Fillmore in Cars (the only way that my children know of him) So, goodbye George Carlin. You will be missed. (And sadly, looking at Drake's little toy Fillmore... it's like he'll be silent forever.

I had a bunch of things planned for todays post. I'd talk about my kids, how things are going... but every so often a news story catches me by surprise and forces me to rethink my plans. Tim Russert died...out on a limb and say that the router just isn't meant to handle as much traffic as we're putting on it. So we'll be getting a new router this week. Harvey Korman died - he was 81. That makes me sad, seeing as how I grew up watching reruns of the Carol Burnett show. (And eventually I was able to see him in 'Blazing Saddles') He truly had an amazing...dollars on an ad that isn't giving them what they want) No links, because I'm lazy. Things are, as the subject suggests settling down. I apologized to the in-laws and have been putting Drake to bed and letting him cry it out. It's hard to listen to, but you know what? He knew he had a... Dr's appointments, lunch with my dad and a trip to Sprouts. It should be a lot of fun!! (Wish me luck, though. Drake fell asleep really early, and we're all hoping he makes it through the night!
