Moroccan Harira and Fresh Tomato Coulis

Harira is a traditional Maghrebian soup served in Morocco and Algeria. It's usually eaten for dinner in the holy month of Ramadan to break the fast. It's considered a meal in itself. It may also be served to friends and family following a special event, such as the morning after a wedding - these recipes vary slightly from the harira eaten during Ramadan. Of course, it may be prepared anytime...

I can´t tell you how many times I´ve heard 'I Kissed a Girl' on this trip

It plays EVERYWHERE! All the damn time. Well, this trip is nearly over. We fly home tomorrow morning. Madrid to Copenhagen to Seattle. Take off is 11:10am, final landing is 4:40pm the same day. Total... then a train to Cordoba. That all took 21 hours so tomorrow´s flights should be a piece of cake. Cordoba, Seville, Toledo, and Madrid have all been visited in the meantime. See you all soon!

HSKS post

I do apologise for having been out of touch for a week. But my alter ego Morag the monster cuddler has been been on an excursion to meet with hte famous sandwitches of Morocco. Their main gathering place if cleverly disguised as a fast food joint, soo cunning! But I found it nonetheless at the outer edge of Marrakesh. In generally witchcraft is poorly disguised in Morocco... The snake charmers...

[LINK] "French Hand Seen in Western Sahara Impasse"

Over at Inter Press Service, Haider Rizvi tackles the question of why the Western Sahara , occupied by Morocco in defiance of international law. "The main reason behind the U.N. failure to address this issue is the French support for Morocco," said Ahmed Boukhari, Western Sahara's ambassador to the U.N., in an interview with IPS. "France is behind Morocco. It finances Morocco." Western Sahara...

Morocco

I could fill the whole entry with honeymoon pictures, I even got a chance to do a few watercolours. We did all the touristy things but also a lot of exploring around the Souks. Mosaics everywere,..."ancient village" in the Atlas. It was very impressive, but strangely familiar. Maybe because it has been used in "Lawrence of Arabia", "Kingdom of Heaven", "Babel"... and loads of others.

...of going if I wasn't there. Good call, Michele. Instead, she will board the awkward bus with her mother, our friend Lilia, and Lilia's mother. This awkward bus has a journey to Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. I'm quite proud of myself that I have not found any jealousy at all in this. I am mildly pleased that I was placed as priority #1 for the summer season of Michele in Real Life . Although a good...

camel of shame

I may not be mentally built for this country but that doesn't stop me from having fun. That fun is just drastically inflated in price and hustled out of my wallet with incredible skill. But I'm learning...walk by, though. And the kissy noises. Those can stop anytime. *Not that I didn't know any of this already. Just putting common sense into practice under this pressure is where I falter. And boy do I

In Algeciras (a difficult word to figure out when you're not proficient at Spanish) just wasting time before the ferry to Tangier. In a few hours I will be in Morocco. Egads! I'm sure the cities we're going to have become touristy enough for us to get by with English and roughly fifteen words of French but even so, this will probably be the most difficult leg of the journey. But we have our accomodations...
