Back and in love

... I got a link to a great Danish cartoon Valhalla (with English subtitles) based on the comic series by Peter Madsen featuring Loki, Thor and Odin and I just sat and watched with big, toothy grin. I am astounded they never put it on TV. The movie is about as old as me... (I bet this is one of the few journals where there are tags "real life" and "mythology" right next to each other. Nice :-)

For my own purposes two matters fill my absolute core of personal mythology -- the Arthurian legends and Alice in Wonderland. Weird combo...

Pleiades

Orion is hunting his way through Boetia when he spots seven girls sitting on the green bank of a river. “Well, hello, ladies,” he says, and they scream, because Orion’s eight feet tall. Orion laughs; it’s...that their flying hair brushes his outstretched hands when a whirlwind comes down and scoops the girls up and away into the night sky. “Damn,” says Orion, and pulls air deep into his lungs. “Almost.

Searching for Heroines

So, there I was, reviewing the visitor stats for my website (  www.scribblerworks.us/_index.htm  ), and I checked out the search strings that brought some people to the site.  It's kind of interesting...that we've found a substitute for the Figure of Essence in stories yet. (Yes, I guess I've just now coined two new story terms: Figure of Action and Figure of Essence. I wonder if they'll be useful?

Merely on the fact that they usually have no need for it, where they live they don't have to worry about running into anything.) 6- With some of the other Egyptian mythology inspired bunnies running about, I felt the need to release my own. I'd personally love to see an adaption of the weighing of the heart, with Anubis and Ammit and the feather of Ma'at. 7- Some...

Well, my apartment passed inspection. One less thing to worry about. Finished reading Black Rose (Book 2 of Nora Roberts' In The Garden trilogy) and started reading Red Lily (Book 3) last night... and this time it was a bag of Pomegranate Vanilla Red Tea. I. Was. In. Heaven... *happy sigh* Gotta get me some more of that. Sometime this week, I'll post about my team's Halloween decorations

We Don't Need Another Hero

...be any Like rockinlibrarian , I recently finished reading Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces . I'd never read it before, despite the fact that I've always been interested in mythology and that my dad owned a copy, but I finally checked out a copy from the library. I wasn't always that interested in the psychological parts, as it seemed to mostly reflect the ideas of Freud...

Similarly, magic, mythology, language, mantra, symbolism, and sigils, among others, can each affect mental states and influence the associative networks of the brain. The personal goal is to employ these techniques to reprogram...

...covered giant deserves more than one reference. He and his consort Echidna (no relation to the species of egg-laying mammal of the same name) gave birth to several of the worst monsters in Greek mythology, including: Cerberus , the original dog from Hell, and guardian of the dead. He's usually shown as having three heads, but he's occasionally been represented with as few as two and as many...
