So I just donated to NaNo in the hopes that it would lead to a faster website, because I hate trying to go to the forums and it taking five minutes to load a page (if it loads at all). I figure, every little bit helps. Anyway, it seems to have improved a bit, but I imagine on Saturday it'll be slow as snails for a while. Wait... speak of the devil, "Unable to connect to database server." Awesome. And...
Okay, so I was determined not to succumb to the craze and attempt NaNo, after all, long stories with decent plots are not exactly my forte, besides which the whole 'quantity over quality, you can always edit later' approach makes me twitch, I simply do not work that way. But then someone *glares at Nae* started up with her NaNo talk and trying to encourage me to join in and I got to thinking that...
So I kind of decided something epic. I'm doing NaNoWriMo this November. Now, we all know I probably won't finish it, but hey! It sounds fun, and then I'll have a reason to be this stressed out. Now I just need a plot. Ahh. This'll be interesting.
I told myself I wouldn't do it this year. I've done it for four years straight, won three of those years, and published two of the winning novels (#3 is currently being shopped). I don't need to do NaNo. I've proved to myself I can write a fast draft when I need to...And besides all that, my darling daughter (DD) is expecting her third child, due to make his grand entrance on Thanksgiving Day! I should...
I find it kind of freakishly funny that I managed to get all bent out of shape about Nano starting soon without it really sinking in that NaNo happens in, you know, November. November. The month that (this year) my family has 4 eye doctor visits, 3 dentist appointments, a doctor appointment, my niece's first birthday party, my husband and I's anniversary, 2 gaming group sessions (husband's thing...
Title : No title yet Genre : Fantasy farce is what I'm aiming for ^_^ Brief hopeful synopsis : When Time ends, Jon and his cat Sasha are thrown into an alternate universe where he finds he's the...meet The Lover, The Warrior, The Wise, The Children, and The Other who are meant to journey with and help him fulfill his destiny. But of the people he meets, who's whom? This'll be a clusterfuck ^_
...me happy. Another piece of good news is that since we're going back on Standard time over the weekend, I get an extra hour to par-tay at my All Hallows Bash on Saturday night. The bad news is that Nano also starts on Saturday, so I have to make an attempt at squeezing in 1,667 words between cleaning the house, finishing the decorations, going to the store, and getting my hair done for the the all...
...to try nanowrimo after all. This is the first November in a long time I haven't been totally bogged with school work. Though I do have a research paper right at the beginning of November . . . it's small, though, only five pages . . . not much of a paper at all, really. So I'm gonna give it a try (and fail, but yeah). Guess if anyone wants to add me as a buddy my nano profile page is here?
...to visiting ghouls, goblins, and Hannah Montanas. The next part of "In the Dark" will go up. At some point, I'll have to make dinner. And then come midnight, I'll be writing. I am so ready to start on Nano. I've got my note cards and my characters and I am prepared to get down to some serious business. I can smell a good start word count. In other news, I've been rather lax with my manners as of late...
So, for NaNo I'm doing creative non-fiction, which I've never done before, but I'm really looking forward to. I read enough Sarah Vowell and Augusten Burroughs, and I think I have a pretty good grasp of turning a witty phrase. I'm going to sticky post this so it stays at the top of my LJ for the month of November, and I'll put a strike through when I've finished an essay. I'll post them here if folks...
