These recaps are coming more frequently these days. I'm sure that's a good thing, but my poor wrists are feeling the pressure. Friday morning I stepped out of the house into the dark and met a cold drizzle...train to the city, and eventually to a bus back home. Although I'll be back on a plane in a few days, I don't think I'll have any mammoth travel days like this for some time. I'm more than okay with that

Halloween is almost here, visiting like a familiar friend. This time of year reminds me of warm apple cider and freshly baked cinnamon cookies. Of pullover sweaters and leaves falling. The family and... ate at the Farmer's Diner, and saw Queechee Gorge. Whether we were at home, locally around town, and/or on the road to another state - we both had a lot of fun hanging out, friends also. :-)

My parents arrive in Austin tomorrow, which is terrifying.  They've never been to Texas before, let alone our house, and my mother is nosey as hell.  Mark is up in arms about how much time he's going to... I think this disappointment is a little unwarranted - already signed - a good thing, right?  But it's no new news that I'm a wee bit neurotic, and this is just another thing for me to worry about.

Autumn songs that evoke pleasant memories for me: - "The Reach," by Dan Fogelberg. He lived on the Maine coast, or was at least a part-time resident, and this song perfectly captured the feeling. I love...& Fire. The specific memory is of fall sorority rush during college. One year it seemed like that song was as ubiquitous a theme for rush events as "Pieces of April" had been for high school proms

I just slept for fourteen hours (!!!) and I'm TIRED AGAIN. How is this POSSIBLE??? Granted, I'm taking antihistamines, which can sometimes make one sleepy, but they've never done that to ME before, and...in NYC?" and it does not. NYC is fine. But airplanes aren't. I'm fine with the flying, but not with the squishiness of the people. Anyway... yeah. Guess that's my phobia. Or extreme dislike, anyway

One of the funniest jokes I ever heard was told to me in 8th grade (sometime in 1975-76, kiddies, remember the American Bicentennial? No?) by a classmate across the cafeteria table, and it goes like... big twinkle, I knew it was a good one. "When you're gonna buuuurp, and it comes out a faaaaaht, that's an implosion!" Would you believe I'm laughing out loud even now? thanks, Grampa ....
