Obviously, I have not updated since the Blue Eagles won the UAAP senior basketball championship, and a lot has happened since then. First, the Blue Eaglets also won the UAAP junior basketball championship...of the aftermath of the also recently concluded NCAA finals between the San Beda Red Lions and the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers (unfortunately for international readers, it's in Filipino):
The Blue Eagles had another great game yesterday, defeating the UST Growling Tigers 64-57. This time, the offense was more diversified, with four players scoring in double digits - Rabeh Al-Hussaini ...going to let me out of the house on Saturday, the day before we leave :-p So it looks like yesterday's game against UST was my last...at least until I come home for summer vacation next year
The sun rose as usual this morning (sort of), so last night was not the end of the world. In case you missed it, Ateneo lost its first game of the UAAP season to the FEU Tamaraws, 66-72. The Blue Eagles...mode this season. Whatever the real reason, I'll gladly take the win. I don't know how many more there will be for the Lady Eagles this season :-/ and at least there was one Ateneo win yesterday
FEU star player Mac Baracael was shot outside the FEU gym last night. As of this posting, he has regained consciousness and is in stable enough condition to be transferred to another medical facility....will remain a strong title contender this season even without him, but what happened is definitely not right; he belongs on the basketball court with his teammates and he should get back there soon
Veteran basketball coach Joe Lipa was dismissed yesterday as head coach of the UP Fighting Maroons . (Apparently, it won't be official until the university chancellor or someone approves the decision...and bawling at his players, "Whatever happens, I love you guys!" Best of luck in your future endeavors, Coach Joe, although with your reputation and experience, I don't think you'll need much.
Besides a 'kikay' icon, I also need to get an 'amused' or random icon. I read in the news today that Jonathan Fernandez and Jason "J-Malc" Malcontento of the National University Bulldogs (although I think... their Fil-Bahraini against our Fil-Chinese, their Fil-Briton against our American, and at point, their Fil-Chinese against our Fil-longgo." - Eagle_Eyes on the return of the Ateneo-La Salle matchup
