I'll never understand German bureaucracy. Or Germany, for that matter, but that's a different story. I queued up for another hour, with the intent of abmelding. After they'd told me last Friday that they... I found this hugely amusing. Probably because it was totally at random. It was in any case more funny than the sarcastic wolf-whistles from the older students as they waited for the bus. Hrmph

I tried to abmeld today. Y'know, well in advance, all Germanic and responsible. They wouldn't let me, as I'm leaving in 8 days and you can only abmeld 7 days before departure. And secretly, I suspect,...because I'm scared of leaving and change and that, but it's an idea. It makes sense financially, I'd be able to say moin all the time, and I wouldn't be a teacher. A brilliant combination of factors

I got asked for directions again. The guy could have picked any one of the 40,000 people (approx) walking near us, but chose me. Maybe I do look German. Maybe I'm not this short, it's just an illusion...this class too. I'm going to miss their little faces :( Although they might hate me when they discover that I wasn't injured at all, only pretending to be for the purposes of their English lesson.

...the word kilt on the board, and we ended up talking about Plattdeutsch, even though I'd intended to make the monarchy last the whole lesson. In other news, it appears that Judgement Day has come to Oldenburg, if the weather is anything to go by. It is all stormy and horrible and the bottom of my trousers are wet because they are not short-legged trousers because they do not exist in Germany. Haarrummph...
