Plenty of interruptions, there was no sleep like normal though there were no extended problems, just routine fixes. Then there were the non-work relatedtext messages waking me up. Like Out of a Cannon... etc. This picture doesn't do her justice. I doubt they’ll find someone to fill her catholic school-girl mini-skirt. Now to bide my time until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
I slept lightly but there were no interruptions, just like normal people enjoy. After four days off, it’s time to get back to work…while working from home. At least I have a Hawaiian dress code here...already know when you’re on-call. I don’t want to get woken up in the middle of the night unless it’s a legitimate problem. Now to bide my time until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
It begins again. I’m on-call today through Sunday, 09.07.08. Release from agony comes Monday, 09.08.08. Running off with BeerDiabla to the AddisonFlying Saucer for some beer, I need to celebrate Labor Day with some cheap pints. Now to try to drink and hump until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
How long has it been since I've posted? Days and days and days... and no births. I am starting to regard the cell phone as a ticking time bomb. Because those babies have to come out someday, right?... isn't it? Don't I get a turn to follow my dream? I could go on, but Lily woke up, and I am trying to type one-handed while nursing her back to sleep. Get off the computer, go to bed. Grrrrrr
I now sleep as a free man, no longer on-call. No chance of disturbing calls –work related anyways. I can move about without worry, my plans will not be squashed. Sure enough, Ops made torture calls last...at 10pm tonight but this gets me a day off next week, which I think is a decent trade off considering it will be mostly waiting around. Now the machines call someone else to say they’re broken…
No calls. None. One night left and I know not to get my hopes up for another quiet night but there’s a conflict in historical statistics. Friday, things usually are quiet, maybe one drive replacement...a lot of equipmentjust waiting to torment me. The upside is that tomorrow’s Saturday, designated for additionalsleep recovery. Now to bide my time until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
Again, one call early in the evening quickly handled. No other calls the rest of the night and I slept like normal people. Things are better. Enhancing that is due to my manager being out all week [ill... to get next week set up as well since it will be short with my trip to see family and hang out in Austin, then Fredericksburg. Now to bide my time until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
One call – eight minutes before bedtime- that was easily handled. No other calls the rest of the night and I slept like normal people. Wednesday the landscaping crew makes their way through my complex...and leave them under my window to infuriate me. It’s rained and I feel a bit calmer now. Now to bide my time [non-violently as possible] until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
Technically, I got to sleep like normal people do but, due to the past two days, a solid six-hour block of uninterrupted sleep –while welcomed- wasn’t something I could process too well. It was nice nonetheless. There were only two problems to handle and they were “known” prior to the night, which made it scheduled. Now to bide my time until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
I got hit in the heart of darkness again at time points of 01:42, 02.52 [lasting until about 05:00]. What this means is that since Saturday, I’ve been sleeping in small shifts where I can and spending...if this keeps up. This is an imperial donkey-biting tour of duty in the making, on the path to set a record for suck. Now to bide my time and nap until the machines call me to say they’re broken…
