..., two blue jays decided to sit in the tree in the backyard and scream at each other for half an hour. Only half an hour because at that point I went out and tossed a stone into the tree (lightly, way lower than them, just to make noise, and only after hand-clapping didn't work). Now they're screaming at each other in a tree down the street, but hopefully Peo won't hear through her closed window.
February 2008 Peo photos! No videos for this month and only 37 photos...I think I was busy doing other stuff. Peomugging for the camera in the backyard: I tried putting a hair ribbon in Peo's hair for the first time. It sure is cute. It stayed in for a whole five minutes. I try to come up with witty or cute captions, but I'm sorry, this one from the playgroup's Valentine's...
In sorting through February's pictures, I found some of Peo playing with the sign from our SCHIP Veto protest that I forgot to include in the post of photos from October 2007. So here are the three photos of us protesting, please ignore my dorky expression in the first one (one was posted at the time, the other two will be new to you all):
1) Called to bookPeo's music class, she'll be doing once a week for 10 weeks (with me) starting in January, so that's good. Maybe I should look for a sooner tumbling class... 2) Went to the podiatrist, I am now wearing a giant black orthopedic boot and will be doing so for about a year. He says I can walk and shop and go to the park normally with it, and it comes off for night time. The nurse recommended...
...is the Pi one!!), covering January 13 through 31. Watching birds in the backyard: Playing in the sandbox, studying the flow of sand through the wheel: With Mummy's help, Peo arranged her magnets into the first few digits of Pi. Don't believe me that she knew about Pi at two years and three months old? Well either you're new to this LiveJournal or you haven't been paying...
Can you believe it? Finally getting to January's photos and movies! Woohoo! Part 1: 39 photos and links to 2 movies, covering January 1 through 12. Peo plays hide and seek with Daddy in the snowy forest on Mt. Charleston . She thinks "hiding" is just putting your face up to the tree and standing still, which is super-cute. Playing with other friends from our playgroup, building a snowman...
BTW, who has been exposing my kid to Abbot and Costello routines? When she got her new baby doll for her birthday, first she declared its name was "Nothing", then "Nobody". But now she says its name is "I Don't Know", and not that she doesn't know, that's actually the doll's name. Peo thinks this is hysterical. I'm expecting any moment that she'll drop it face down in the gravel by third base.
I'm reasonably confident that Peo is the only three year old who has both "Peter Sellers" and "pi=314159265358979323846" done in alphanumerical magnets on a white board in her bedroom. And yes, the decimal's missing. The set didn't come with decimals and I thought using the dot of an "i" would confuse her. Because Pi's digits, no problem, that's easy, but breaking the literalism of a letter? That'd...
...started looking, a house equivalent to our Vegas house of about 1600 sq ft, 3 bdrm was $1.2 million in the cheaper parts of SanFran). I looked up things like basic swimming or gymnasticslessons for Peo and they were at least triple the cost of Vegas equivalents, and there was certainly no free thing like Family to Family. Lots of folks started telling me that food costs were higher too, which I...
Peo just had her three-year doctor's appointment. As expected, the doctor said it's not unusual for a kid that bright and active to be trouble in terms of questioning/circumventing rules and all of that. She suggested some tactics for dealing with the hitting but nothing we haven't tried, and when I told her the outcome of the various attempts, she eventually said that it looks like Peo is really smart...
