Now that was just bizarre. I started typing this in one tab in Firefox (3.0.3), went to another couple-three tabs to open pictures to link to, came back, and all of a sudden I wasn't typing in Dvorak any...trying one of the new bamboo yarns. Yesterday I ordered Halcyon Yarns' "Yarn Store in a Box," a set of umpteen bazillion samples on color cards. I'm like a kid waiting for the arrival of a candy store

There are certain publishers that I tend to trust, and DK is...found it useful. I would like to go through all the "assignments," although at this point I've only done one of them. I'm also tempted to buy another book by the author, "How to Photograph Everything.

Today was a bit more relaxed than yesterday.  Ron and The Sprout changed the front brake pads on the Tigger, we went to the grocery store, and then we went shopping. We got a lot accomplished yesterday.  The Sprout was in need of pants and shorts, desperately.  We had what I thought was an $X off card for Cabela's, with X being determined on how much you spent. ...so far I've ordered a bra that may actually, y'know, *fit*, and Ron and Sprout have put new front brake pads on the Tigger.  Need to hit the grocery store before lunchtime, so we have something to eat..

First, the tail end of the week from hell.  Friday night I thought I broke the DSLR (Canon Digital Rebel of some vintage).  It would only take pictures in fully-automatic mode(s), and only JPEGs, no RAW...website to find the article there. Hmm.  Looking reasonably clear to the east, must go check the west windows, maybe we will be able to start shifting the east hive girls into their new home...

Good Grief!  That's an ugly URL! “Mastering...out loud at several points, but the humor is not over-done.   This seems to me to be a good general overview of digital SLR photography, suitable for a beginner to intermediate-level photographer.  

Mastering Digital Black and White: A Photographer's Guide to High Quality Black-and-White Imaging and Printing, Amadou Diallo, 2007, Course Technology PTR, ISBN:  978-1598633757.  Paperback, 392 pages...Digital Black and White", but to paraphrase Douglas Adams, it's almost, but not quite, entirely unlike what I was thought it was and interested in.  So it's back to the bookstore we go tonight.

Last night dracos666 spent some time teaching me to use Adobe Lightroom so that I can sort through and poke at digital pictures myself.  We'd done preliminary passes on the pictures we took on the 28th...with a telephoto lens on, Ron's cool backpack-sling camera bag and the tripod.  Just goes to show, you can't judge a book by its cover.  Although I am rather tickled with this picture:
