A weather widget suggests that the temperature did not break 50' today. And I'm pretty tired to boot. For some reason this makes me want to make a random post that is a response to absolutely nothing....can't say that I'm a Sarah Palin fan, but the amount of anger and vitriol toward her still surprises me. Look at how ready to go it is! And you don't have to pay it, really a dream vice president!
I'm kind of surprised by the reactions people have to the Russian military's stubborn refusal to withdraw from Georgia like they've theoretically agreed to do. They just keep repeating that they expect...institutions let alone project power outwards. I don't think that's actually the case mind you, but this whole thing is a Russian attempt to project power and so I think it's wise to hit them where it hurts
It's a problem I have. I can't elaborate my opinions, so here is an experiment/example of me trying. I'd love to learn how to elaborate my ideas more. This is a short essay on my concerns on the tension...pressure on Israel to actually attack Iran but it has no good basis. Bush would support an attack on Iran for murky reasons but if Obama were to be elected, an attack on Iran would be off the table
Sometimes my friends say things in a much more succinct, and oftentimes, much more understandable way then I can. So I've all ready seen the FOX news interview. I knew that neither candidate was liberal...and utter disdain for anyone but themselves. “If progressives want to have a voice at all in national politics, our only hope is to keep the Obamabots from taking over the Democratic party.”
After many, many weeks of not posting, I find myself this morning commenting on someone else's site . We have been on the road in our RV and rarely have a good Internet connection. Also busy sightseeing...of each bird's song. As for political analysis, see this and this . While traveling and having to rely on TV for news, we've come to appreciate the Internet even more than we already did
Dysfunctional State of the Union In light of recent and previous cave-ins by the wussiecrat majority in congress, we should all, by now, be disabused of any notions of political hope. But I have...the Berlin airlift, indeed, had set foot on the goddamn moon. And then you wake up. So all the candidates are responding to the assassination of Bhutto. They're not doing it in quite the way I would have expected them to. The standard rule for the last twenty years or so is that, in general...walls in border areas is considered a hindrance to his electoral chances. Eh. It's tough to get really worked up about primaries this year. Especially since I'm registered as an independent anyway
I check google news every morning to see what has been going on in the world, this morning the first two stories (in order) were Clashes at Jewish-Muslim holy site in Jerusalem and Hamas and Fatah Agree...of real cooperation between forces belonging to the two rival factions in any meaningful way. Yet, the mind does tend to like to combine things into some sort of coherent story every chance it gets
I haven't done a world politics rant in a long time, but something I read kind of ticked me off. The following quote comes from the Asian Tribune . "As has happened so often in the past, U.N. potential...only happens when both sides are willing to talk. Until then, the place is effectively a place to spout propaganda, and it annoys me when people try to make it out as something different than that.
I read an article talking about how some Sunni tribes in Iraq are siding with the government fighting against foreign insurgents. This is a shift, before they used to cooperate with the foreigners but...what compromise you make you can always fix it later, even if it involves a bloody war. - - - - - - - - - That's enough about serious topics. Here's a rodent with a bazooka.
