Image © edmundv This week's featured article is Harp, WC2N 4HS , a Good Beer Guide pub near Charing Cross Station and the National Portrait Gallery, in Covent Garden. Previously owned by Punch Taverns, it recently became a free house when the landlady bought the freehold.
Image © Ewan-M This week's featured article is Gunmakers, EC1R 5ET , a lovely pub in Clerkenwell . The Gunmakers featured at the start (and end) of a pub crawl some of us did recently. It does good beer and good food, and has a genuinely welcoming landlord.
Image © Kake This week's featured article is Wheatsheaf, SE1 1TY , a recently-reopened real ale pub in Borough near London Bridge Station . It used to be around the corner on Stoney Street, but moved location in early 2009 when the original building was closed for work associated with the Thameslink upgrades. It's now in the cellar of the Hop Exchange.
Image © Billy Abbott This week's featured article is Wenlock Arms, N1 7TA , a Good Beer Guide pub near Old Street , in the less trendified western edge of Hoxton . The Wenlock tends...rather basic decor; others argue that it embodies all that is wrong with CAMRA. Regardless, if you haven't been there yet, and you're interested in pubs, it's one that should be tried at least once.
Image © Ewan-M This week's featured article is Royal Oak, SE1 4JU , a very lovely pub near Borough Station . It has seven handpumps, and is owned by Harveys brewery , so usually has...there with friends or on your own. I'm starting to sound like a marketing spiel now... but this is a great pub, and if you haven't been there yet you really should give it a go if at all possible.
Image © LoopZilla This week's featured article is Pembury Tavern, E8 1JH , a nice (if rather cavernous) pub in Hackney serving beers from the Milton Brewery . Probably most of you reading this already know the Pembury — if you don't, and you live anywhere near it, it's well worth a visit.
Image © Kake This week's featured article is Orange Tree, N21 3HA , a decent pub in Winchmore Hill . It has four handpumps (though one of them is Greene King IPA), and it's in the Good...from a landlady who clearly cares about her customers. In other news, rjw1 has just purchased the new Good Curry Guide , so expect a mass update to Category Curry some time soon!
Image © Kake This week's featured article is Anglesey Arms, BR1 3JX , a surprisingly good pub in Bromley . It's a Shepherd Neame pub, and it's in the Good Beer Guide .
