From the Food forum in the New Cafe: Today I am truly cookingtomato sauce. Well, making it, anyway. I bought a bushel of Roma tomatoes from a local farmer last night. I do it the lazy way -- pop tomatoes in blender and liquefy, then drain for a while, put pulp in jars, put jars in pressure canner. I used to do the blanch/peel/seed/cook/can route and discovered this is much easier.
The vacation was wonderful, 5 whole days for ourselves! We hit both the u-pick orchard and the u-pick farm down in Wilcox. Green tomatoes, Asian pears, apples, zucchini, crookneck and pickling cucumbers...out of melon. Place in large container to chill. Stir before serving. Makes half a gallon to a gallon. *You can use any kind of melon; watermelon, candy cane or honeydew are all good ones to use
