The Horse & His Boy: Chapter 7

Aravis keeps her head with a pounding heart. She’s a sensible girl, but she’s not a Super-Woman either. I like the way Lasaraleen’s character was subtly introduced in an earlier chapter when Aravis... :P :P :P Next: More about the scary journey through the Palace labyrinth and of course, the Secret, Secret Plot. Hopefully the next chapter review will not take as long as this one to get up!

Reading Progress 1: Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Taken from my reading journal, which I have closed : I am currently reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I have heard a lot of good comments about this book so I decided to give it a shot. I...Riders? So far I don't like him, but that may change in the future. I miss Eragon's brother actually. I look forward to his appearance later in the book ( if he does). Final opinion Later

Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is the same.

I really love Wilde; he had the most amusing way of saying scandlising things. One thing for sure- he wasn't a boring person. Probably very hard to cope with on everyday basis, but absolutely not boring...version. I think I've read it two years ago, but I have a sudden pull to re-read it now... Sadly, too many books piled up and waiting to read (plus many intended for studies) to realise that wish :(

REVISITING: Veronica in Venice

First of all, I've been revisiting my review of the Nancy Drew film , which should teach me not to comment on things I haven't read/seen, because I liked it despite my misgivings when I heard of the project... and the 'sympathetic' heroine's inadequacies made me quite see why it was forgettable. The only difference this time around was that I had to wait fo a bus after reading it, so I had to consider it

The Horse & His Boy: Chapter 6

I finally get the chance to use my icon appropriately! Shasta’s ability to see the mountains of Archenland from Tashbaan really drives home the fact that this is indeed a flat world . I clued in...kids seem to think that bathing and drinking from the same (constantly moving, I know, but even then!) body of water is not as frighteningly unhygienic as it sounds. Next: Aravis’s adventures!

REVIEW: A Girl of Mettle

A Girl of Mettle: Frances West. Collins. Amazon dates this book at 1908 and 1922 - there's no indication which my copy is, or whether it was published at another time entirely. My research (Googling...getting in the way of the story, this book has a lot of charm, and I laughed out loud at some of the characters' escapades - particularly the local doctor's two young sons and their games. Fun, then

Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List

Well now, look who's revamping this thing? yeah, i'm in the mood. buut, change, i'm not going to put fic up here (well, not often). but i'm going to write (crappy) reveiws for stuff. So, follow the link...takes to read. I have not read any of Cohn's other work, therefore cannot recommend it any more than to say that if this is an example of her work, it is worth following up. Rating: 8.5/10 --NN

The Horse & His Boy: Chapter 5

More on Edmund : I love the fact that it’s not even stated that the young King is a bad-ass hunk of a man, it’s just implied that he must be. The way he goes all stealth and “now we must be secret”...that they were friends.” Sweetness! (Of course, the film would probably have them fight each other at first sight just because Heaven forbid that two young men like each other at the spot.)

The Horse & His Boy: Chapter 4

The title of does give away the whole chapter, doesn’t it? Odd that this is only just occurring to me. C. S. Lewis’s gift for setting the scene is remarkable. The journey across the many-arched bridge...books in any series can stand alone as well as this one does. I’ll be looKing out for this while I review the other books. King Edmund is Teh Hotness . But more on that in the next chapter! :D

The Horse & His Boy: Chapter 3

Gosh, that horse-tail shaving in semi-darkness and with cold fingers to boot must have been rather painful. This is the chapter where we learn Aravis’s and Hwin’s (but chiefly Aravis’s) story and...moment it annoyed her too) and of course she said she didn't mind any number of ghouls either. I need Aravis icons! Does anyone know where I can get hi-res scans of the Pauline Baynes illustrations
