Because I Promised...

I'm afraid this isn't going to be very long (Ha! I always say that...), but hopefully it will be full of good stuff.  : )  (I also injured my thumb somehow today, so I'm not typing as fast as usual...... featuring satyrs, dryads, lares and lemures, and a really, really scary sorceress, and the tooth fairy, and a hero named Roscoe. I swear, it's incredible. You have to take my word for it.  ; )

Thunderfoot: The soothing voice of outrage

I haven't been here in a long time, so I don't know how many of you are aware of the plethora of great anti-creationist content one can find on YouTube. My favorite channel by far belongs to a man who...motherfuckers, and the more we can rub this in their faces, the better. You should subscribe to this man's channel and go though every last video of his archive. It's wonderful, to say the least

Thunderfoot: The soothing voice of outrage/...And something exciting in my neighborhood!

I love how this man can be so gosh darn soft spoken about being indignant. And he's right, of course. Creationists do little else but attack the very system of knowledge to which we can rightfully attribute...that immediately swarmed in from the police station, also literally within blocks of the site of the hold-up. Guess he didn't think that one through. Dumb ass. I don't think anyone else was hurt

The God of the Gaps shows his face.

This little tidbit from P.J. O'Rourke at Search Magazine is one of the flimsiest defenses for God that I've ever read. His thesis is that he can't understand science, so he has to take a scientific view of the universe with as much faith as he has to in God, and he'd rather have faith in God than scientists. Also science is scary, whereby God is not. Science and religion both assert the same thing...

Best Onion stories ever

Okay, so maybe "best ever" is a slight exaggeration, but this week saw two of the best stories I've ever read in The Onion .  Check these out: First, from a few days ago, this obligatory McCain story...never again be tested." Added Freiberg, "Behold the power and glory of the scientific method!" Read the rest right here .  I dunno, I think it's even better than the one about Intelligent Falling.

Science Alert

...a vaccine vector which is designed to activate immune responses mediated by toll-like receptors, as well as targeting specific ailments such as TB. Well, it seems the idea is no longer entirely science fictional , although the real-life applications differ (of course). I'd be interested to see if somebody develops a contraceptive method employing the mechanism outlined further on in that story...

LHC, again

More LHC stuff: linkage: Safety reports. Upon reconsideration, though, their "happens all the time" argument is bunk. While high-energy collisions do happen and happen often both on the moon and in the...like this) is the solution to our Fermi Paradox? There's no one to hear because, in the end, curiosity isn't a survival trait? Or maybe they're just not talking because We're made of meat.

Spider SCIENCE!

It's ART ! It's SCIENCE ! It's SCIART ! It's ARTENCE ! It's awesome . La Princess is the name of this 50 foot mechanical spider created by the French performing art group La Machine. (Incidentally, here's a cute streamy webpage on the subject.) Sleeping on the sides of skyscrapers in Liverpool, this giant spider of awesome recently woke up in a bad mood. She's currently stomping around...
