Deptford 45s

My friend Anita is up to interesting things again- Deptford 45s Deptford 45s is 7 x3 min films, listening posts, workshops, a limited edition giveaway CD & website with gallery, a virtual archive...of Anita's previous project Memphis 45s will know this is going to be fascinating. Bits

1. On your recomdations I purchased "Red Mars" from the local chazbo shop (99p) to read when I've finished HP Lovecraft, which I'm quite enjoying as it happens. Also bought "Andy Warhol's Children's Book"...was made. I never actually saw the series, but I'd love to see it, if anybody can help... 5. Something has bitten my ankle leaving two very large sore red circles behind. A vampire bat, possibly

Hindu Procession

According to a notice pinned in the window of our local shop, the Hindu procession that I first wrote about here back in 2005, is due to occur again tomorrow. It passes down Leahurst Road, and we rush...tabards of the Thurkkai Amman Temple in Ealing, which is probably a clue, it seems to be the work of the Sri Lankan community. I shall endeavor to find out more before tomorrow - including times

Strange Reminiscences Leads To A Plug

The Blackheath Bugle carries a superb picture of camels parading up Tranquil Vale in Blackheath , back in the days when circuses used to announce their arrival by parading their animals through the town...such odd, lo-fi spectaculars in public places. Unless you count tonight's performances by Blackheath Morris at The George and the Market Porter in Borough. Still not as weird as a whale though

"Lewisham" "tour" of "morris dancing"

This Thursday evening I will be out with Blackheath Morris Men for their "Lewisham Tour". As I have remarked here on many occasions before, Lewisham is not blessed with many good pubs, in fact I can't...in the Cotswold tradition, and if they're unlucky, to a bunch of drunken morris men playing tunes on their squeezeboxes afterwards. I don't get out much these days, so this is a chance to say hello

Chair Lifting - Greenwich 2008

It was, despite the awful weather, a very enjoyable day - even if the dancing in the snow took me back to games lessons at school and having to play football in the most awful weather. There's a better..... There's an excellent report, with some fantastic photos, by Francis Sedgemore here . He actually remembered to take some pictures of the chir being lifted, which was more than I could manage
