...affects eternity he can never tell, where his influence stops." ~Henry Brooks Adams Over the past month or so, but especially this week, I've had a bunch of interesting conversations with my students. Today I chatted with a 10-year-old drama student for an hour about writing, ghostwriting, publishing, favorite authors, and college. I didn't think it was possible to have such an intelligent...
"One forges one's style on the terrible anvil of daily deadlines.” ~Emile Zola I was never fond of the word "deadline," though it does seem to sum up perfectly the crunch of the final day before something's...guessed it. I have 21 student papers due today: uploaded and graded. I spent a listless weekend not doing papers, and here's where it got me. Predictably, this entry is short. THE END. ~Lisa Shafte
I don't have enough to yell and scold everyone that made the dance half a fiasco. It would be a waste of time to do so. It's not like any of you would listen anyway. And I doubt anyone'll confess to the punch-spiking business. Next year, hopefully, will be better. Just some pictures of me here. .

Their...the SU with the guys and had a really good dance and a generally good night. Me (with Andy's awesome glasses) && Dave. Today was a little less brilliant but I'll leave this as a happy post :
This weekend, to prepare for teaching this week, I got to read selections from The Decameron and Chaucer's The Franklin's Tale . The Tale of Putting the Devil Back in Hell is not politically correct...of my friend Dorigen and her husband Averagus. I think I need to learn to tell both tales. On the other hand, I had to grade bad technical writing papers that didn't follow directions again.
Yesterday, something caught me off guard. I saw it coming but it is still worring me a little bit. Dr. Hanna has mentioned a few times that I need to be a little more professional with the students. Mrs. S agreed with her. I understand what they are saying and I completely agree. I am finding this so unbelieveably hard to do. I jsut can't say no to the kids. They want to tell me a story and I listen...
