I didn't post my weekly goal post last week because I was out of town for Easter. Also, I was dealing with essays and taxes. And there wasn't a whole lot of words to report anyways, though number of words...week: Short story: Part IV of the Oedipus story; anything new. Need 7K more words for DII challenge. Poetry: not a priority this week. Novel: Chapter One. Need 12K words for DII challenge

I think my computer needs a new nickname. For a while now I have been (lovingly) calling it the Geriatric Computer, with much coaxing along whenever I ask it to do something super hard like open my internet...about that, and continue getting rejections until I get acceptances. Still, it was nice of the universe to send me that little reminder. Sure I can change my luck, all I have to do is keep trying

I have good news! Yesterday I found out that my article "Love in Tibullus' 1.1: The True Life" won 3rd place in the Labyrinth contest I submitted it to. Labyrinth is the Classical Studies department's...because it's a neat idea, my writing suffered this week what with essays and midterms and such, and I need something to do while people here watch the Superbowl. It's 8 hours of writing. I'm pretty excited

... for crying out loud. But I'm aiming high! And it's going to stay that way. Eventually something'll stick. Now I only have one submission still out there from 2009. And I guess I have to start looking for somewhere else to submit my little banshee story to. Otherwise, not much else to report. Have a few very schoolwork heavy few days ahead of me and am none too eager about it. What else is new.

One of my last submissions of 2009 just got sent back to me. They rejected it "because it doesn't stand out." Ouch. Oh well, good inspiration to go to creative writing class in an hour and a half and...an essay I'd given her and submitting it to a contest, and she flat-out said she thinks I'll win. Course, we both know I won't have much, if any, competition... but still, it was very nice of her to say

Well, some of you already know this, but for the rest of you, I have news to announce! "A Thing of Many Facets," my Arthurian legend short, has been accepted by Fickle Muses! It will be up April 12-18, 2009. Don't worry about marking your calendars, folks, I'll be reminding you. Never you fear. I'm pretty darn happy about this. Good start to 2009!

2008 is over. Was a year of change... mom and dad split; my mom, my dad and my brother all bought new places and moved into them; I had a full time summer job, and I'm sure lots of other little changes...troubles, and she asked me to resend it! So I did that today. Even if it is rejected now, at least I know it wasn't an immediate rejection. I'm pretty pleased about it, and my fingers are crossed.

Long time no entry, I know. I love you guys still, really! It's just that November was... November-ish. Many, many deadlines. Assignments and essays and seminars, oh my. But hey, still have my sanity....on my face, but you shoulda seen the other close up pic I have... I look like I'm sloshed, and I hadn't had anything... (come to think of it, if you have me on facebook, you can see that picture).
