So once again, I haven't updated regularly. But we've had some great rides. My first ride after this past post was a trail ride! He did sooo good too! Maille was having some malfunctions - spooking at... 'forward', 'move shoulders', and 'move haunch'. As well as picking feet. Then took him out to the arena and made him do it in a big space. So poor Griff :P We'll see about tonight, its getting COLD!
The first discussion occured today. But not really... We did the normal lounging warm up and walking. It was the trot that really didn't work out. It hink it was the dressage whip- because I only use...on sale. So, just a short update, despite the fact that its been a week and we've done a LOT of good cantering, this is what I've got. So I've got some AWESOME videos I'm still uploading and stuff
So its been two days, and so much has happened with Griff! I gave him the day off on Wednesday, because I ached from the fall and working my butt off. Thus, Griffith wasn't worked again until last night... Also tomorrow - he gets turned out with the baby QH! He was already turned out with Finnie [old black gelding] today and he was good. So tomorrow we really get to work! and we'll see what happens! +J
So!! Hello! Guess what I did yesterday? Yup! It was really awesome, considering. He was an ass in the crossties, and with picking his feet [sounds like we need to do it twice a day then! No mis-haps...!! Except, now we're going to lead him around a bit, stretch his neck with the 'reins' and dismount from the correct side. So basically tonight is a repeat night! I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! +J
Well now, its been a while. Why? Because the gate's not here, Griff's getting moved soon, and I haven't had any time to work with him until last night. Why? Because Sheila dumped Kaa-san's three-year-old...1/4 packet jello Think about: calling- Lisa [trailering] Sheila [boarding] Dr Turner [teeth- Trypton's sheath?, self-vaccinating] Dan [feet] Future Ideas: BOARDING er... I'm fresh out, too tired
Its been a few days, and I can't actually recall everything that I've accomplished with Charlie [who I really want to call Griffith]. Mostly, I've been turning him out, letting his gut settle on the...Patients! Turnout: 6-9 hours per day Feed: 1/2 large scoop beet pulp 2 handfuls Senior Feed dabble veggie oil sprinkling of jello Plans: CLIPPERS rasping feet down worming lounging tightening girt
...with that I can't say. Although when he finally goes outside again he's going to be hell to catch, but that's okay. Hopefully I'll have my gate soon so I can start lounging him, then lounging with tack. I also need to teach him to pony with Trypton, which I'm thinking about doing next week. How am I doing on my training schedule? Behind, because of the lack of lounging ability, but otherwise just...
Alas, no picture of Charlie today, but tonight I plan on taking some. Thus far: Yesterday- AM So I managed to kill a few birds with one stone. I taught Michael how to put a halter on, lead a horse...half as pretty as Tryptons!]. Iffy about left fore in canter/gallop. Always switches off that lead. Soreness? lameness? lack of muscling? tightness in muscle? Note: gosh, his name is driving me crazy
...3 more days! [not uncluding today/sunday - because its 3 min. til 1] And I bought the bugger the NICEST bell boots ever! They even have the soft fluffy stuff around the top so he doesn't get rubs! Next tack [if he doesn't need a bridle] a leather halter . Or possibly just a really nice nylon one. He'll look so sharp in black tack! +J+ Current feed: [per feeding] 3-4 flakes hay directed beet...
