Side remark

For some reason, probably because it is summer, a season full of tourists, and very hot, the Italians decide to go around restoring their historical monuments. By around, I mean most of the places I went to. It is certainly a pain, when you are trying not to capture any scaffolding, or cranes, which are the worst, in your frame. Arrgh.

On bookmarks

I was looking for a bookmark for CLA in the cities I have visited in Italy, and I have not seen a shop with a decent one! To be more accurate, most of the shops do not have bookmarks, and the only one that had any, it was just a white piece of cardboard with a picture at the end. :/ Do they not use bookmarks here??

Italy so far

Italy has been really hot so far. I am greeted every morning by a clear, blue sky. Needless to say, I have become very tanned. Driving in Italy is pretty exasperating, yet amusing. There is a feel of lawlessness...rice, or Chinese food. So I am much happier now, after having 2.5 decent Chinese meals. *burp* I have forgotten the other stuff that I wanted to blog about, so, go view the photos in the last entry

Quick Update

Internet connection is no longer free, in fact it is pretty expensive. :/ When I was in Chamonix, I met some people on the tour, who were from China, and was told that my Mandarin is pretty good. Yay! In Italy now, and it is hot, with very little or no cloud cover. Can definitely do without whinings about how hot it is.

Geneva

Geneva falls short of my expectations. There, a dramatic opening statement. I guess I always have this feeling that Singapore tries to model itself after Switzerland , but the first impression that...people dressed up in what looks like a maid outfit made of leather. Much that one I would think a stripper would wear. So yes, it is no surprise that I do not have a very good impression of this place.

Chamonix and Mount Blanc thoughts

If I had gone home after Germany , and someone asked me how the trip was, my reply would probably be a shrug, and I’d say “It was okay.”. I would probably get a quizzical look, or even a “You were...cool glaciers and you could see the front of it!! I couldn’t take a good picture of that because I was already on the bus. :( Oh man, if I could go hiking on them, that would be so awesome.

Notable food I have had so far:

Roasted quarter duck with beer Flöns (black pudding) (I wouldn’t recommend this to people) Fried camerbert Schweinsnitschel (thin, breaded pork cutlet) Pork knuckle, potato dumpling, and cabbage (The pork knuckle was humongous, bigger than those you get at Cold Storage, and it was for 1.) Gnocchi Cheese fondue and apple pie
