Characters: AU!Alice Elric, OU!Acheron Hades Where: The empty lot When: Today, afternoon-ish; during mod!plot Stage 3. Summary: Alice meets Acheron one unfortunate afternoon, and things can only...stupid enough to believe it was a dream, anyway. No, it was sadly real. The only good thing? The people were real. A whole box of victims to pick and choose from at will... But which one to pick?
Hello and welcome to my 1000th post in Livejournal. I've decided to really do something special for this occasion and the first thing that came to mind (that didn’t require too much hard work) was to finally...sure how I'd go about it or what exactly it means. So I'll just settle with telling you to clear off. Ahem, here it comes: "Clear off!" Good. I don't think we'll be seeing that question around any more
A presentable, black suit in [ PRETEND A SIZE IS HERE ]; shoes and a tie to match. Send it to Om-Enas as soon as possible, thank you. Also, a silver bracelet much like this one . Put it in a box of...appropriate size and send it to Miss Persephone's new room- I'm afraid I don't know which one it is- with a note attached: "For luck." [[ooc: Dated so it all arrives before Bell's Ball o' Doom.]]
If First Among Sequels is an indication of the typical Thursday Next book I think the way to enjoy these books is to read them as satire. I don’t think there is a lot of literary/science fiction satire...one book in this story as she is in the earlier and referenced Eyre Affair. Emily Gray’s reading of this audiobook is excellent. She is almost as good as Paul Boehmer who reads the Owen Parry books
Grrrr... remind me not to include so many lj cuts, href and lj user tags in my posts. I always forget the " or something.... Meme from stella8h8chang on creative writing. Perhaps Germany had finally gone mad.
Meme from stella8h8chang on creative writing. I used to hate creative writing, which I suspect had something to do with the compulsory inspirations foisted upon me by my English teachers: keep a diary...seemed to be trying to strangle his intestines. Maybe this one ws as guilty as the rest. Traitors to the Reich, traitors to the fatherland, to their own people. Perhaps Germany had finally gone mad.
For Harry Potter fans, both of the books and the fanfic, more Potter references in First Among Sequels. Potter is scheduled to appear before the Council of Genres on the topic of book characters being...references, and book maintenance in this audio book. But, someone might want to take a poke at it. I still have to wrap out outlining the plot bunny someone gave me for an original piece of writing
JESSICA! I blame you. It is entirely your fault that I am completely addicted to the evil and terrible books that make up the Thursday Next series. I have been feverishly reading Lost in a Good Book, anticipating...return of Landen and HE DOES NOT COME BACK! WTF? Now I have to read the other two to find out what the hell happens and I can't stand it. Stupid mean author, stupid addictive stories, stupid Jessica
A great day out. I played this literature board game and got a free much. But I think the highlight of my day was definitely meeting Jasper Fford. He was a highly entertaining man who obviously just loves...autograph (I also got The Eyre Affair signed but they both look the say so...) He put funky little postcards in the books after he'd signed them. Ashley from the NCD books. And a phone box.
It's the long weekend and amongst other things I've been finishing The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde. His writing leaves me dumbstruck, I can't imagine how he plans them. This particular one is the...Indiana Jones last night - still so watchable after all these years. The part when they open the ark still gets me every time. I'm looking forward to the latest, if only for those special effects.
