Yes, the plot bunny struck again this week, giving me yet another novel idea. I was working on cleaning up a spreadsheet (which didn't require to much concentration as the cleanup wasn't complicated) and...so I'll write a draft of that first. I'd write more (I'm really excited about this one), but I still need to clean a bit more before my mom arrives. Yay for vacation days, and write the night away
Waiting for my kitty to get bored of being petted. Stuck here until he decides he's done with me. It's interesting to me the ways that not having a car changes my perspective on time and space. I'm...like beer and good food and napping, things that usually are put off because there's some other responsibility you have to take care of first. Today was just a party with no strings attached :)
I am having a very weird relationship with time right now. Sleeping odd hours, up most of the night, things I want to get into and spend time with are whizzing past ultra-fast, while tghings I don't want...snail's pace. Sense of days reeling past all too fast, though, all things considered. Maybe because I'm not getting enough done with The Book. I need a time machine and I want a do-over for August. :
I've mentioned a couple of times lately that I've been rereading classic sword and sorcery. I went through the Conan stories, Zothique , Dying Earth ,* all of those. My favorite, though, always has...are rules. Some of those are setting. Some of those are players and GM. But there should be a way to pull all of it together, no? * Not actually all sword and sorcery, but that's beside the point.
As promised, here are the rules notes for The Paradise of Menace . We used a new core mechanic for this session: d12 v. difficulty - modifier . We also used an auxiliary mechanic. Along with their...the humans had long since forgotten about. The Doom, then, was clear: the friendly locals being conquered by the invading army, without either of them giving a thought to their own best interests.
The game: Time & Space , my game of reckless but morally responsible time travel. The players: various coworkers and friends. Here's what happened; I'll post more mechanical notes later. I rolled...follow the clicking beads into the hills, and then into a mountain pass, and then into a dark cave. They find a door, and open it. Immediately, they hear a mechanical voice. VOICE: "EX-TER-MIN-ATE!"
And another. Another her . A different soul yet - still the same. She was... well, it doesn't really matter. Sakura-hime? Are we settled on requesting help from the Genie to cross from one world to another once we find one of interest?
I just woke up. Time and Space makes perfect sense to me now. It's cyclical. It's mind blowing. I had a few smokes outside before I went to bed. When I was in bed, I fell asleep quick. I don't believe... not the mind that is feeling, has an intersteller connection. The senses are fading away and ephemeral. The unconsciousness is that which holds onto material value and senses-the past. Memory
