Mm, I wonder if I upset someone over at TiVo? I didn't get any advance notice on this one. Well, anyway, on to the news. Netflix streaming is coming to TiVo - very soon. It is great news, but it isn't...of pausing, fast-forwarding, rewinding and re-starting whenever they wish. For more information on how to have movies instantly streamed from Netflix via your TiVo DVR visit www.tivo.com/netflix .

Reader David commented on a previous post that Time Warner Cable of San Antonio, TX has a link to order a free Tuning Adapter to enable SDV on TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, or TiVo HD XL units. The order...personally suspect it will be sooner rather than later, especially as Comcast is already deploying Tuning Adapters . Is anyone else seeing Time Warner offer Tuning Adapter pre-orders in their area
TiVo has had a long and troubled history in Canada. It was three years ago, way back in September of 2005 that TiVo extended their service into Canada, but they still didn't officially sell units there...to them at an affordable rate without lots of extra dongles and cables. In any case right now TiVo's future in Canada is hazy at best. As the Magic 8 Ball says - Answer unclear, ask again later
Buy.com has the Western Digital 500GB eSATA My DVR Expander on sale again for $131.99 . This is the only drive officially approved for use with the TiVo Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL. That's a great price on that drive, so if you've been thinking about getting one, now is a good time.
Through January 29, 2009, TiVo is offering a promotion wherein you receive three months free service with the purchase of a new TiVo Series2DT or TiVo HD from TiVo.com . Under the terms of this offer the Series2DT is $149.99 plus service and the TiVo HD is $299.99 plus service.
It isn't quite as good as the recent $131.99 deal at Buy.com , but it is still a good one. Amazon is selling the Western Digital 500GB My DVR Expander eSATA drive , compatible with the TiVo Series3 and TiVo HD (and Scientific Atlanta cable DVRs) for just $134.99. That's 29%, $55, off the usual Amazon list price of $189.99.
