OMG. Just found out we're getting another truck once we get to West Memphis! This'll be our fourth one. Still like Cynthia, but we have put over 500,000 miles on the old girl. She's starting to show it too. Poor thing. Not quite time to put her to pasture, but she does need a bit of TLC. I hope the next driver takes good care of her.
Got about the most ideal load one could get outta Laredo, TX. Was headedstraight to the Fontana OC for a relay. No muss, no fuss! Only problem is we got there kinda late, which has been compounding lateness...at a time when we can actually watch it? How cool would that be? Even joked to my mate "Awwww, they're waiting till we can watch to start playing again." Don't I wish, but it's still a nice sentiment
Got a relay out of the Laredo OC after a mere 45 minute live unload, and headed over to Hell-A. Basically it's because after this load, it's time to go see my cousin's wedding! I haven't seen him in years, literally. Las Vegas is not my cup of tea, but for him I'll go.
Ye hairy flipping gods! Last night, I found myself behind this one pickup. First it started weaving in its own lane. Then it started weaving across two lanes. I immediately started backing off, waaaaaaaay... I saw it weave across FOUR lanes of highway, and come within a foot of hittingthe wire median! I was more than happy to see it dive for an offramp. Get out of my way, you drunken tard! Jeebus
What is with our loads recently? Only thing we seem to get are high value ones. I suppose it's better than waiting around for a load but it still means that someone has to stay with the truck AT ALL TIMES...right at the edge of the farm. And only one week left(or so) till we're in Las Vegas(damned creepy place IMO), for my cousin's wedding. Got my outfit with me, so that's all well and good. Ready to go
Today I learned where the fuse for the plug in the bunk is located. It's burned out twice now. Not in the same spot as the one for the front plug, but at least I know what to do now should it go out again. Which it really shouldn't. Meh.
...just like on the net, you have the CBidiots that want to spam the airwaves. Often with much the same mentality as the idiots in the chat rooms. Only you can't just skip their posts, they clog up the air waves and you can only turn it down or go to another channel, or try to out power them with your CB. Not to mention flame wars galor. Yip, it's the internet of the trucking world. Over and out!
First, let me send out the following happy thoughts... Elissa, you go girl. You rock the caspah, and anyone who says differently, including you, needs a size 13 attitude adjustment to their backside....as well. Rob says he doesn't mind, but I know better. Next wednesday I'll take the game time off and cheer through the whole thing. Just not in a skirt, or with pom poms. That's a disturbing thought
And yet awesomemiles. We're to pick up a load from the Otay drop yard, take it to Little Rock, AR, then turn around and haul it BACK to Otay. I guess we've been selected to test the timing for this run out? Odd odd odd. Well, no pussyfooting around here! Off to snag it.
4:30 Up before sunrise with Joann. She wanted to roll over and burn through some snooze alarms, but I had to move. Shower and shave my neck (growing the winter beard) and I was ready to go. 5:00 I'm at...affable enough, in the typical "get it done" Pennsylvania Dutch way. The driver's loung has free coffee that isn't growing a culture, which is a step forward from LandAir. More as the day progresses
