The road distance from Manila to Mariveles is 164 kilometers or 100 miles. Using a personal vehicle, one could reach Km 0 of the Bataan Death March route in two hours and half. Riding in a commercial bus...white with the "emblem/symbol" of the Bataan Death March on the top portion of the marker. The emblem consist of soldiers "walking" and/or "crawling". It felt like a lifetime of climbing, of balancing on tightropes, but Jeremy suddenly stopped and said “Beyond these steps… lies the crater. Go ahead, have the first view.” I took the last few steps up...on time and not being obstinate enough.
