MM I'm finally getting around to scanningimages from my Peterson's Magazines I got at an antique storein North Carolina this past May. First we have a pattern for an evening polonaise. The pattern is not to scale!
I started this gown last Halloween, and am finishing it, finally, this Halloween. Primarily this is because I actually have places to go, to wear a costume. The trim and buttons are pinned on, and...black hat. Oh well! The trim and buttons are just pinned on at this point, and will be sewn on when I finish the armscye. The front overlap will have snaps to keep it from gaping.
So the guys are all doneexcept for ties and cravates, here's my costume...it looks better on the dress dummy:-) The bolero is made out of cotton jacqard with linen lining, and silk velvet piping...go ahead and make the waist cincher. Here it is at work. My husband is doing the carving of a phoenix breaking out of a gear. Yep...Clockwork Phoenix is born. There'll be an Etsy page soon.
OK, these are my #2 and #3 ever Steampunk projects. Red coat has silklapels and the black has brass riveted leather lapels and....the top, a black leather gear also riveted per the wearers design. :-)
Is anyone going to the VictorianChristmas weekend at the Citadel? http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/halifax/ne/ne2_e.asp I also checked out Sherbrooke Village's website, and it doesn't look like they're having a Victorian Christmas this year. Anyone know otherwise? Or any other Victorian stuff coming up next month? I have an idea for a new bustle dress brewing, and it would be good to know what deadlines...
