Anyway, one of the neat things is that all the MacBook Pro's come with a little IR remote. It is handy and pretty well integrated with mostly Mac apps. Just discovered that VLC, one of the most venerable audio/video clients around, just plain fuckin' works with the remote.

Goto System--Administration--Software Sources--Third-Party Software and add:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/c-korn/ubuntu hardy main
And then update your apt cache
sudo apt-get update
And then to remove the old version, type:
sudo apt-get remove vlc vlc-nox
sudo apt-get autoremove
and then to install the new version do
sudo apt-get install vlc-nox vlc

This worked perfectly with VLC, my favorite cross-platform media player. Much as I love DivX, there are times when a DVD is what you got...and for those occasions, you need access to the proprietary DVD format.
