Which is a better summer vacation spot: The beach or the mountains?

With the arrival of summer, many people look forward to spending time outside in the sun. When we hear the word summer, the first thing that comes our mind is spending it on a beach. Summer is the kind...for refreshment is a must. Beaches are the only place where we can fully refresh and cool our body and experience enjoyment at the same time...READ MORE AT http://www.helium.com/items/1218519

walking to school in the fall

7.45 am October 27 I walk to my early class beneath the autumn sky still blinking away the sleepy streaks of pale orange cloud from its eyes and not yet reaching the mountaintops capped with snow away...cloud hanging round my face as though puffed from a pipe mingling with rising chai-scented steam from the tea strong, black, and spicy I hold between gloved hands to warm fingers and heart.

Walking Shoes

So I don't forget - I walked 2 days before we left for the Feast, and 1 day during, for a total of 6 miles.  Added that to the rest, and I get 228 . We did walk several times during the Feast, just not...weekend, but since it's so late in the year, I doubt it will give us much more light in the mornings.  I always looked forward to that.  Why did they change when Daylight Saving Time starts and ends?

On the Road to Recovery

...weeks of rest before I started working back into my running schedule. So I power walked today. And the ankle did speldidly. I walked without a brace so I can really begin strengthening it (I've been walking without a brace for a few days now). I'm going to try and walk every day this week, so that next week I can hopefully begin running again. The Pasadena 5K is on November 16th. I have 19 days...

Jacking around

We carved a bunch of pumpkins yesterday. I didn't carve one for the first time in a long time but it was nice that Auntie D did. Hubby was tired and zonked after everyone left. I was feeling tired...and could use more exersc. I am already tired of the cold and it is only October. I could definitely be a snowbird. Heck, at this point I am thinking permanent migration sounds pretty dang good

AUTUMN ADAGIO

How beautiful everything is now.  Birch, maple, oak, plane, willow, and chestnut trees.  Holly, heather, late chrysthanthemums and geraniums.  Pumpkins on porches.  We walked to the cemetary and wandered...from the plane trees coming down and the sadness slowly faded in the midst of such easy beauty .  Which is real, I sometimes wonder, the casual pleasure of my days or the sorrow of my dreams?

Stoned me just like going home

Drat! I was supposed to walk up Mt. Tabor with Ruby today, but she's not feeling well (a bummer for both of us, though perhaps her more than me). I could still go myself, I suppose, but I slept way, way later than I meant to, and should probably work on my novel, instead. Oh, but it's so nice out! What to do, what to do ... ... maybe we'll see how things look after breakfast.

Autumn walk.

Rob and I went walking at Foremark Reservoir again today. It's a lovely place, but there aren't many bits that would make a good photo - it's more an overall impression. We did find some interesting fungi on our travels though. I was fascinated by these, which were in a little line among the trees, as though they were marching along :- I think, from googling that these may be Clitocybe geotropa...

Walking tonight

...house and he'd love me to come in and meet his people, and perhaps come and live with them. I declined, but I was glad he didn't need rescuing after all. Round the next corner I met a Japanese girl walking fast and purposefully like me and listening to her ipod. We nodded as we marched past each other in opposite directions. Then I passed the share house where the Koori couple and all the young blokes...

Walking! Pictures! Food!

Today I walked a touch over six miles in total, including a trip to the last farmer's market of the year, to the library to get my card and some delicious looking new books, to Asia Mart (yes, it's really...woolen socks. I think I may be getting sick from the weather change, but it's not too bad. Here are some of the promised photos of my apartment. See my tiny kitchen! And here is spider bread:
