I bought Le procès (The Trial) on DVD a couple months ago purely because I was so thrilled to see an Anthony Perkins movie being sold on DVD. He truly is an actor who's sorely underrated, and here...it even deeper. No, I'm not saying I'd watch it for the third time in a day, but I'll definitely say I've found a frighteningly good piece of art that is going to fight it's way into my movie top ten

Stuff.... and nonsense

...was about Oedipus and Freud and was a bit strange but pretty good. Book 39 was 'The Likeness' by Tana French which was the follow up to In The Woods that I was looking for and was almost as good :) Literature challenge status: 39 /50 - 11 to go NaNoWriMo also starts on Saturday and I think I've settled on an idea. I think I'm going to write a sort of memoir-y thing about my time in Japan. I know...

Living Rolls On

...the last 2 months: 1. college begun; lots of philosophy reading and thinking which takes up time (American philosophy with Emerson, Peirce, and James so far; finishing James today --- Philosophy of Literature, which included reading Hard Times by Charles Dickens reaffirming my fondness for that man's writing (earliest story of his I read was Tale of Two Cities which I read in...1997?) --- Environmental...

Literature, Class 8: Period 3, Thursday, October 30

"Last week," Miss Bennet said, folding her hands behind her, "for one of our three excerpts, we read Dante's Inferno . Or rather -- since I am hardly cruel enough to ask you to read all of Dante's ... at all of them. "As a final note, I met some of your friends and family this weekend. They were all delightful, and I promise you most sincerely, I did not say anything of which you would disapprove.

Borders is in Geelong! At last!

...well. The lit books are not in a U-shaped section of shelving like they are in the Camberwell store, but it is still very exciting to browse in there, because, of course, it is the books that make a literature section such a delight to browse in! Alas, I had no money to spend, but they have been just as well, because I didn't have to choose just one or two books out of those hundreds! Ooh, Borders...

I had a million dollars and I lost it

Had a pretty productive day at work again, did a lot of 3D modeling and wrote some important emails. Then I found out my boss had already emailed one of the people I emailed, about the exact same thing...second car). But wouldn't it be better to take the corvette with you where ever you are going after getting the drink? Maybe they were going to visit a friend who lived on a street with lots of potholes

Prayers and children

By Paulo Coelho A protestant priest, having started a family, no longer had any peace for his prayers. One night, when he knelt down, he was disturbed by the children in the living room. "Have the children...longer see the joy." The priest stood and shouted once again to his wife: "Have the children play! They are part of prayer!" And his words were heard by God once again. www.paulocoelhoblog.com
