Today was a spelling bee competition. I didn’t win anything. And it was too bad. Asiah was rooting for me. I didn’t get even the consolation prizes. I didn’t spell financier, some garbles third view... no?) And for the winners I wonder if I’d ever speak to them again… There is surely substance behind all that spelling, am I not correct? Note: It was nice to see Kim Lee again.
If you're like me, you've been eagerly anticipating this event... well, according to my contact at the Chronicle: "Doesn't look like we are having it at Fado this year...so now we are looking for a new location and date...hopefully sooner rather than later!!" If I hear anything more, I will post about it!
In case you were wondering, the date for the Austin Chronicle/Fado Adult Spelling Bee has not been determined yet. However, I've corresponded with a responsible party at the Chronicle, and she says they're...studying for it, but I am playing plenty of Scramble on Facebook, which is positively addictive (In case you haven't had the pleasure of playing Scramble, it is akin to Boggle, my favorite word game)
Gah. This... this place! I am utterly frustrated by the lack of commitment and involvement at everyone at this school! The new president of our film club has been working really hard to make sure we...not be such flaky jerks? I am baffled, I am disgusted, I am aggravated. By the way, our first assignment is to film the spelling bee. At a college. And I bet there will only be five people in it.
I haven't posted in such a long time! Okay, I'm going to let you in on why. But please don't spread it around! It's very embarrassing. Eh-HEM. I was in the National Spelling Bee for a while. ...warning. I really hope there aren't any tornadoes nearby. I'm terribly afraid of violent wind-funnels in the sky. DID YOU KNOW: In the last three thousand years, no new animals have been domesticated?
1- Football (NFL & College football before the BCS shit takes over) 2- Tennis 3- March Madness (the first weekend for, maybe also the 2nd one) 4- Cricket 5- NHL 6- World Cup Soccer 7- NFL Draft 8- NBA... horse racing, darts, poker, cheer-leading, bowling, MLS), please remind me. It'll either join the previously mentioned "no way" group, or it'll join the above list above the NBA (and maybe the AFL)
Did anyone catch this classic spelling bee moment? This kid ended up winning it all, and I was so glad he was there to relieve some tension. What a great kid. When i taught 5th grade at a private school i remember i had 5 boys who came out totally unbeatable in the school's spelling Bee contest. We were waiting and waiting for at least one of them to make a...spelled all words correctly. The school had to award the 5 of them. It was an American, a Mexican, two Koreans and an Indian, pretty much like this boy here. Congrats to Sameer! and what? num-what?
