I'm rewatching all of S1, most of S2 and assorted Rose-related episodes after that and will likely do a full episode write-up afterwards. I just rewatched and wrote up "The End of the World." It's a fairly long post, but if interested, you can read it here ... follow the fake cut to my lj. :) x-posted to New Who and Time & Chips .
I had tried to post this yesterday (but LJ wasn't cooperating - talk about a repeated meme) but I just was reading a bit about memes in another thread. A meme is an idea that shows up again and again... Galaxy Quest : Or the one the Doctor needs: I guess symbolically it's supposed to say that getting what you want isn't easy. And that, my friends, is my deep thought for day. ;)
So the Doctor/Rose interactions have been wonderfully covered by all the entries that I've read, so I'm just going to nod, agree with everyone, rejoice in CHIPS and talk about my favourite descendant...Doctor of the guilt he was carrying. He was able to let it out for a second, to let down his defenses in front of her, but it weakened him. When he tells Rose, he seems to gather strength from her.
I was hooked on the new Dr. Who series after this episode. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next with the Doctor and Rose and where and who they would meet. I just...lemme try and explain. ...for both the Doctor and Rose that I can't help but love it. Rose is the perfect initial background episode, while The End of the World is where the Doctor's and Rose's journey truly begins for me
Love “The End of the World.” My fuzzy memory (I originally watched the first two series of Doctor Who in the span of about three days while I was quite sickly) remembers being intrigued with “Rose,” but...of that pain, but I’d put that down to being more of a part of Rose’s very nature than any romantic feelings on her part, really. And then they have their first date. YAY! They had chips!
1. I love the music, all lilting and quirky. Yes, even the Britney Spears. It just fits with the whole tone of the thing. 2. The National Trust owns the earth! And they ran out of money. Of course...shift? The TARDIS is in her brain ? Wait.. .just who is this man anyway? 7. Nine is hot, for all his dorky head-bobbing. 8. So is Nine/Rose. Their body language is beyond anything.
Starting up now! Running happily into the TARDIS, where the Doc's playing with a really big marble--very cute! She wants to go into the future. Love the working of the TARDIS. It's so very random. Also...-Nine's just lost everyone, and who wants to form new friendships after losing so much? Mostly, he turns to Rose when he needs contact. *Sigh* Said it last week, and I'll say it again: I love this show
