Can't See the Forest for the ... Coal??? Next Thursday, November 6, area residents have an opportunity to hear Scott D. Elrick, one of the lead geologists on the project, present a free lecture...interpretation of science. This student web site does a nice job of demonstrating the arguments and geologic processes. (IE does not play the slides but you can go to a link that shows the series.

[ original post with details ] "I haven't figured out dinner yet" has been rectified: Katie has wonderfully offered to make dinner. I don't know what she's making yet (and actually I don't think she... If you plan to fursuit at the party, say so ^_^ (Will, that says FURsuit :-P) Commenting on this post would be the preferred method just to keep everything in one place. This'll be fun! Can't wait :-

Lewisham Country Fayre

We saw Chas 'n' Dave on Sunday as part of the Lewisham Country Fayre . Their heyday was 1979, the same year as Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures", The Fall's D"ragnet", Pil's "Metal Box" and the Gang...the intriguingly spelt/no relation "Sandhersons")... Next year I'll bring my bike for a check-up, a cake, and some proper beer to consume. We left to strains of "Gertcha!" echoing in our ears

Deptford 45s

My friend Anita is up to interesting things again- Deptford 45s Deptford 45s is 7 x3 min films, listening posts, workshops, a limited edition giveaway CD & website with gallery, a virtual archive...of Anita's previous project Memphis 45s will know this is going to be fascinating. I might take up the remix challenge too - I need to do something creative on these long evenings stuck at home...

Things to Make and Do

I have not made any kind of creative music for three and half months (unless you count a brief run through of "Princess Royal" at the last Blackheath Morris outing) The fact that this coincides with the...effects of sleep deprivation" on Tuesday. ____ But never mind all that, look at these amazing photos of last night's storm over Blackheath that the Blackheath Bugle has unearthed- Cor

Ash Thursday

Today is "Ash Thursday" - an annual excuse for a fairly low key performance by Blackheath Morris Men at their home pub, the excellent Ashburnham Arms (hence the rib-ticking play on words), Ashburnham Grove, Greenwich. From about 8.30pm - pop by if you're near, good beer (Shepherd Neame), nice pub, some nice blokes with bells and hankies...what more could you want?

Bits

1. On your recomdations I purchased "Red Mars" from the local chazbo shop (99p) to read when I've finished HP Lovecraft, which I'm quite enjoying as it happens. Also bought "Andy Warhol's Children's Book"...was made. I never actually saw the series, but I'd love to see it, if anybody can help... 5. Something has bitten my ankle leaving two very large sore red circles behind. A vampire bat, possibly

Hindu Procession

According to a notice pinned in the window of our local shop, the Hindu procession that I first wrote about here back in 2005, is due to occur again tomorrow. It passes down Leahurst Road, and we rush...tabards of the Thurkkai Amman Temple in Ealing, which is probably a clue, it seems to be the work of the Sri Lankan community. I shall endeavor to find out more before tomorrow - including times
