I think I might have gone overboard. 65 icons! Including Amazons, cockatoos, conures, African parrots, macaws, lories, eclectus, assorted South American parrots, and a whole lot of Psittacula for some reason. And a surprise corvid. A few of these may be revisions of earlier icons (I'm doing all icons as PNGs now.) Meaning: I don't keep good track of what images I already used to iconize. Oops. I'm...
I've had my two parrots for about two and a half years now. For most of that time I've been working on "potty training" them - that is, 1) poop on cue, and 2) poop off cue in appropriate places, like the top of their cage. They got part 1 down pretty darned well, but we've been working on part 2 for a loooong time. We've achieved a pretty happy balance where if we humans remember to cue the birds...
I like kids. I'd make a terrible Mama, myself, cause I've such a short temper, but I still like other people's kids. And I absolutely adore my Godson who'll be 18 months in a few weeks. He is such a doll...awake late and be dead tired tomorrow. Sorry about the lack of comments, by the way, I've been reading my friends page every day but haven't had the energy to comment. I'll work on that tomorrow
Yep that is right I went to visit Temperance and Indra and met Vree. And she is a sweetie...a complete and utter charmer. She has her moody moments. And she can get a little loud. We were both squacking...below her eye level] she got snappy. and pushy. When I stood up...taller than she was...no problem..she was an angel who just wanted to snuggle. So I guess we will see what tomorrow will bring..
For anyone who knows me, you know i love birds. And that I am rubbing off on Pakka in that effect. Well I have an add posted looking for the right future family member. We have had some good responses...this point there is still another cockatoo to meet some day soon. And a double yellow head that I am going to meet next sunday...lol So we will see...when we meet the right bird I think we will know
I'm working from home today, and my birds are out and flying around the house amusing themselves. A few minutes ago I heard a clicking noise, and I looked over to find Icarus, my white-bellied caique parrot...beaking the end of the target stick, which I'd left sitting on that shelf weeks before! I cracked up and gave him a treat. What an industrious little clicker-trainee! :) (x-posted to my journal
...statement that food on a stick is always better than if it has no stick. Then We just walked around looking at various, yet expensive items to find a small cart pulled by a dog. On the cart was three parrots and their pirate owner. (Yes there was A LOT of pirates and everyone is aware of my pirate hatred). We fallowed him to listen to his story and watch the birds perform. Very Funny. ...

By happy, happy...of Simon Friend , but we know better. We also know that the Latin name for the severe macaw is Ara severus . Anyone like to hazard a guess what (to Kat's charign) his middle name will be? ;-)

...in Endangered Species (CITES) are Indonesian. In a country where income often is less than $2,000 per year, some local villagers participate in the illegal trapping and trading of exotic animals, and parrots in particular, to supplement their livelihood. The result has been a decimation of local wildlife populations, leaving some exotic species such as the Salmon-crested and Lesser Sulphur-crested...
