Saw Appaloosa last Saturday, 25 October, three weeks and a day after it opened in metro Detroit; Appaloosa is based on the novel of the same name by Robert B. Parker (author of the Spenser private...been sung by -- Ed Harris . Harris co-wrote the song with his composer, Jeff Beal , who also scored Harris' previous outing as director, the bio-pic Pollock (2000). Ed-freakin'-Harris. Wow.

John Wayne stars as a Texas Ranger who is bringing a fugitive (Stuart Whitman) to justice while simultaneously tracking down a bunch of bad guys called The Comancheros.   These dudes make their bread... The Duke is the only man I know of who can wear a pink shirt and a white neckerchief and still look like a total badass.   For that fact alone I can’t bear to give the film any less than ** ½.

A scheming forger and a no-good card shark swindle a bunch of land from the honest, hardworking people of Mesquite, including the ranch owned by The Three Mesquiteers, Stony Brooke (John Wayne), Tucson...the Number 7 position on The Video Vacuum Top Ten for 1939, right below the Charles Laughton version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and just above the Dead End Kids’ flick, They Made Me a Criminal.

Уникальный в своём роде фильм. Во-первых, по большому счёту отсутствует действие. Все события фильма подаются вообще как необязательные. У меня возникло ощущение при появлении героя Лу Кастеля, что весь... ни гомерически смешную открывающую сцену, ни запредельную операторскую работу, ни кислотный саундтрек не объяснить. Тем не менее или благодаря этому фильм просто охренителен. Коррадо Пани шикарен

...   You want him to be Charles Bronson at all times and blowing away the scum of the universe.   The supporting cast is excellent and includes Ben Johnson, Richard Crenna, Charles Durning, David Huddleston and Bronson movie regulars Ed Lauter and Jill Ireland.   It was also the last feature film for famed stuntman Yakima Canutt, so old school western fans will want to give a look-see too.

The Grand Chrono'nauts Tea at the Brooklyn Indie Fair yesterday was quite a success... so much so that all the attendees couldn't quite fit into the tent. I did not stay long because my leg is still...the frame so unfortunately I don't have any photos of everyone else, but I am sure that others will post them. I was going for a Western frontier style, which seems to be somewhat scarce among the East Coast steampunks. ...get tired of seeing the same old shit over and over again.   I’ve watched about ten or so of these things and I haven’t gotten tired of them yet.   If you can’t groove to the unending stream of western clichés, you will at least get a few good laughs from Wayne ’s poorly dubbed in singing voice.   Lawless Range actually might be a notch better than some of Wayne...
