Fabric Depot is having a storewide 40% off sale... ending on Saturday. Oh, why can't tomorrow be payday?!  I'll probably take a trip down there tomorrow anyway to start seeing what fabric is around for the costume.  I'm thinking a striped fabric for the petticoat and a solid for the jacket.  We'll see what's there. I'm almost done with the sleeves on the old linen chemise.     

 I'm actually sewing something towards my halloween costume today.  Remember that linen chemise? yeah, I didn't either until I found it while looking for something to use as ribbon for a hat I'm also currently burried in (never did find anything, though).  I had abandoned it because the sleeves were waaay off, but I've fixed the armhole and I think it will work out okay. I am working on an  underbust corset commission for someone. It will be hunter/forest green satin on the outside, with a finished length of 14" in the front. I will be posting pictures as I work...for the lining, also hunter green.  I haven't decided yet whether I will do contrasting trim over the seams on the outside, or use the hunter green bias tape I found while I was buying materials..

I have done an initial mock up of  the bodice and I have come to the decision that I need a new chemise. The one I have has sleeves (little cute puffy ones) which won't suit well under the little lacy sleeves that I intend to have on my bodice.  Also the (old) chemise shows over the top of the bodice at the back - AND THAT JUST WON'T DO.   SO a new one is being constructed.  It means a little set...
