I went to the Preakness yesterday and I had a good time. It is much more fun (non partying type) in the Grandstand over the Infield. I play the ponies on occasion, so it was more of my type of group to see an event like this with. I saw a Stealth Bomber and the Clydesdale horses in their best way (trotting along the dirt track). I must start taking more pictures (I brought a camera with me) at events...
...in my ears and go "Lalalalalalala" it won't really have happened. Franzen needs to get over his "concussion" and come back, because apparently he's the only guy on the team who can score. Good Preakness. I missed the Derby because I am a moron and forgot that I am three hours behind Kentucky now, but the Preakness coverage started where the Wings coverage ended, so it was a nice segue. I thought...
After staying up til the wee hours last night (this morning), I didn't drag my carcass from bed until about 2pm. Just in time to watch some pre-Preakness races on ESPN. I didn't have much time to read the stats, but my quick picks were good. Lantana Mob to win (the easy favourite and sure bet), Silver Edition to Show and Commandeered to Place. (To Show means to come in 1st or 2nd; Place means 1st...
...was happening. I hate to say I didn't care for the music, either. Oh well. The payoff was worth it, I think. Though that opinion might make me a really terrible person. Is there anyone in the Preakness who could beat Big Brown? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the weakest field I've ever seen. There's almost no way he can come out of this race a true winner, because if he loses...
The next two weekends coming up are busy for me. One is tradition for me and one is to finish my 30th birthday gifts. The Preakness is this weekend for me and I am very excited about this. This is the first time for me as an attendee. I was an usher in 1998 and just stood all day, but did help my Knights of Columbus Council. I wouldn't work the event again, but I will be attending it in the Grandstands...
...of itself. I am not a hard core Iron Man fan, but I do want to see the movie. The relatively quiet weekends I am having over the next few weeks are a. for my sanity and b. because I am going to the Preakness on May 17th at Pimlico. It will be my first Preakness, so I will have a 12 hour day between getting there, the event and getting home. I will not be drinking, but will be getting a Preakness...
On Saturday I watched the preakness stakes. Happily I didn't watch all the hype leading up to it though. The race lasts about 2 minutes and started at like 5:15 or so. I saw coverage and pre-race analysis as early as 11am. Let's get this straight: 6+ hours of coverage for a 2 minute event. To put that in perspective, proportionally that'd be about 540 hours of hype for a 3 hour event. The Super Bowl...
May 6th-One day after the derby and Street Sense is already back to his workout routine. May 18th-Curlin is looking better than ever before-Camp Curlin believes he's got what it takes to snatch the Preakness from Derby Champ Street Sense. May 18th-Hard Spun and his trainer Larry Jones are out to be the bad guys this year. They're looking to spoil Street Sense's Triple Crown bid. Jones says he is...
