Cris & I were sick most of last week. This was mainly problematic because I was supposed to get a rough draft of my NSF GRFP application to my advisor by last Friday. I didn't work on it at all because...I need to read four papers for class tomorrow, two of which are reviews. Probably, I also need to do other things that I'm not thinking of. This is all a long way of saying I'm really really tired
...stuff...most recent thing I read tracked things into the 1950s, where people were still reporting being tricked by foxes, and even still mentioned the occasional tale of fox possession... This is why I'm donating 25% of each albumsale to a cancer research organization. One that has a great reputation for aggressively tackling cancer, and researches extensively all avenues to finding a cure.
...is making me feel less social than I normally am at these things, so where I normally go around introducing myself to strangers, I've been mostly hanging out with my co-presenter arguing about future research. Now don't get me wrong, he's totallyawesome and this is neat stuff we've been discussing, but we can do that anytime. Really should be more social! But it's clear that we were both a bit wiped...
... about of power, but I think it's rather a stretch to say that Google is even taking over our minds and/or hindering our thought process. I do agree that Google has done wonders when it comes to research. I remember, in middle school, whenever we had to do research, we would trek into the library and look up physical sources of information. I also remember having to go through these huge binders...
Time to update that old saying "cold hands, warm heart." New research shows touching something warm can make you feel and act more warmly toward others. Whether someone is deemed to have a "warm" or "cold" personality makes a powerful first impression. That led Yale Universityscientists to wonder if physical warmth could promote psychological warmth, by subconsciously priming people to think better...
Today I've been trying to be organised by doing some research before I start writing. Things I've researched today included: Prisons between London and Newcastle Nearest Gun store and Hardware store to Camden Terminology in the clergy How trains work and how to drive them. I haven't found about about the how to drive them part yet though More successfully I've been brainstorming (or should that...
... and Daniela Niesta, post-doctoral researcher, demonstrate that the color red makes men feel more amorous toward women. And men are unaware of the role the color plays in their attraction. The research provides the first empirical support for society's enduring love affair with red. From the red ochre used in ancient rituals to today's red-light districts and red hearts on Valentine's Day, the...
