So I went to that cake class, and mostly it sucked. No one told me that it was not a legit store yet...they were still building/stocking it, so there were no working registers and I couldn't use my Kroger...driven around, so I'm loving life right now. I just have to get some things fixed, and then I'll be all set. So that's life as I know it. Finally, I don't feel like drinking the proverbial Kool-Aid
Um, yeah...I'm in a WEIRD fucking mood. And no i didn't make up the title for this entry. It was on Brendon Small's Myspace page under favorite movies, lmao!!!! I wonder if it's a real thing or if he made...for the class and put our store number on it so I can just leave it at that other store for this other lady I work with who comes the day after me! So, two down, two to go in the worry department.
Today has been a bit of an odd day. The good points: * it’s Friday!!! * I did a lot of work today, and better yet, everything was easy and low-stress * I made a cake for a coworker’s birthday, but I was...and chocolate frosting from his cake. After eating that, I thought “screw it” and finished off the Indian food plus a giant chuck of Irish Soda Bread. I went to bed full of shame and cookie dough
Cake Decorators and crafters: Conceptual awareness in a design. In any cake design, the most important consideration is conceptual awareness. All cake compositions begin with an artist’s...us to combine the talents of the finest artist for a product that is far better than any one artist could create on his own. It's a skateboard! Baby brother only had one request of his birthdaycake: make it chocolate! So I did. Chocolate cake with mostly chocolate icing (I used one of those pre-made frosting tubes...on my own, but I didn't. I saw a couple of them online, and decided to give it a try. I did do my own design, though. I think he liked it pretty well. You never can tell with a 13-year-old boy.
Today's lesson, boys and girls, is that sometimes everything's going to go wrong ... but it's possible to salvage it and come out with a lovely finished product. A field staff member in my department...the cake (if they noticed the leaning hose, they didn't say anything), and Maggie sent me an e-mail thanking me for the 'awesome' cake and telling me I'm 'amazing'. All's well that ends well. :-

As requested...Here you go Mumsy and Mom :) Knightley and his faux-hawk (kinda like a mo-hawk, but, uh, faux)... Layla with ice cream on her nose ;) For the past week, our friends John and Misty...BabyShower...I wanted to see how the 3D cake pans worked...and I know the face kinda looks like a monkey, but hopefully I can perfect that before October 18th ;) The fur looks good though, huh?
I made a birthday cake for my friendlast weekend, using one of his favorite bands as inspiration: For those of you not familiar with The Misfits, that's their logo, known as 'The Fiend'. It's a frozen buttercream transfer. Flames seemed appropriate for the side. This cake was yet another reminder that I need to get baking again! I haven't made a cake since May.
Kandace and I had our second cake decorating class today. This was the one where we actually got to break the frosting out and attempt to make some stars, lines, and writing. Our teacher was actually...are a little wonky, and the writing looks like a child did it, but overall it turned out pretty well. You can't really tell in this photo, but there are stars all along the base of the cake, too.
