I have made a grand total of 3 attempts at cracking the nut that is J.S. Mill's On Liberty. While admittedly this nut is easier to crack than Leviathan (which I have to restart, as I haven't touched it in 3 months!!!), it's still not easy, given that my reading endurance has failed miserably thus far. Today wulfwalker and I checked out a largely demolished textile mill in Anderson South Carolina. This is definitely one of those sites that ask for multiple visits.

I went out to Crosskirk last night with Thurso Photography Club. The weather was pretty horrible, a flat grey sky and drizzle, so we stayed out for an hour and then gave up. Because of the lack of colour...photo. These are my three best attempts from the night (and if you click on any of the pics to go through to Flickr, you'll see the fourth as well, which is another dead sheep!).

Last week I finally got around to ordering the first four of a set of seven books I'd long been interested in, written by a machinist and inventor named David J. Gingery . He published these books...be building the foundry. It'd be fun to be able to cast my own metal parts, using the same primitive methods used hundreds of years ago.
