It's snowing! :) Beautiful, tiny little snowflakes under a flat grey-white sky. Gorgeous. I love the onset of winter. Of course, they are tiny shards of ice, little daggers hurtling through the air...km/h with gusts to 74 km/h. (And the wind is supposed to get stronger this afternoon!) I love the wind, too, even more than the snow, but for now I am content to enjoy it from indoors. :) -R.
Okay, so Gaby said I should do this. Why? Because I'm lame and leave her at the bus stop. I'm sorry! Geez! This post will be so long, it'll go under an LJ cut. Also, this post will be public and... OLD PEOPLE DUCK OF AWESOME ALASKA. Failin (palin) is from here He is a fine fish, no? NO MORE PICTURES. 12) Web link. Gaby, you will like this website. potatoes.com/
Have gotten a call from my parents -- they and kommie are fine and apparently have phone service. They don't have power, though, and only kommie has running water. They're not going...though; most of the freeways are flooded . A lot of the same places are flooding that flooded in 2001, but presumably the 18-wheelers full of beer had enough warning to get off the streets this time
Today's Observations So, I managed to do my online homework, print my short story and be confident about a quiz all in one day. I feel so accomplished because two out of the three things were done early...when my boyfriend called it Hurricane Ike and Tina. I had to make this because What's Love Got to Do With It is one of my favorite movies (and oddly enough Laurence Fishbourne brought the lulz as Ike)
Just got a text from jbarr76 -- his power is out (and apparently his land line, since I can't call him on it), but he's okay otherwise. I assume I'll hear all the gorystorm details when power is restored and he can count on being able to charge his cell if it runs down.
The gravity of the Gustav is starting to get through to me. It looks like it could be worse thanKatrina. (As is the possibility that we can now expect "100-year storms" every couple of years or so.) ...back away from it. You do not want that, and it is beneath you. There are so many more legitimate (and far less creepy) attack angles, if you care to make attacks. Leave the kerning for the wingnuts
I wish you could stay. And maybe that's selfish? But I think I'd rather be selfish than alone. Also: Why do all the women on PBS look like they've just stepped out of an Eaton's catalogue?
Tokyo The sky was gray for as far as the eye could see, stretching from horizon to horizon without interruption as though it was the proper color and not the effect of the low clouds. With the gray...to need an umbrella but left the sidewalks and railings slick and clothes damp. The sun rose and set without remark, the only sign of the coming night being a slow deepening of the solid gray sky.
I walked home today, down EDSA in the rain. See, that's my optimism about the weather: I step out of the house each day perfectly convinced that it can't possibly rain because hello, I'm out. That... and working, of the making-money working sort. I'm tired, I'm stressed, I'm jetlagged without going anywhere, and running on a massive sleep debt, but this is a good place to be. I can't pinpoint why
