At a dinner recently with friends, I talked about my horror blog and the conversation segued into movies that had scared everybody the most as kids. The sisters Leora and Sharoan brought up Burnt Offerings...filmed the Ringu series. He said there are no ratings systems in Japan and anybody can go see a horror film, whether they're one year old or a hundred. I wonder if that has something to do with it
Wake up, my friends. This community is not dead! Especially not in October... Okay. So I hadn't seen a horror movie good enough to motive me into a post (heck, I barely write in my own livejournal) in... I was sitting in my apartment alone and afraid to go to the bedroom by myself... but that's just me. Watch it if you haven't yet, then you decide. Tell me what you think. Here's a trailer:
Hellboy 2 disappoints. It's just kind of all-over-the-place, and I admit I stopped reading the comics after a while, but this felt like it was nothing to do with Mignola's universe and was a reaction...and shoes tomorrow, since I haven't even used the membership I signed up for yet. But I don't want to sit here anymore tonight. Either a movie or bed. We'll see which happens. Likely both, together.
Off to see Hellboy tonight. It's possible I'll have no idea what's going on having never seen the first movie or anything. Still. Am highly excited. Also plan to satisfy my Sands-related-pork-craving...on hold for this garbage. Arrgh. . Dude, I had awesome bizarre 60s hair as a five year old. And I was hell skinny. What happened? Yeah yeah, diet is on the verge of happening heh, as always. Pfft
I've been a on Hellboy franchise kick for the past couple of months. It all started when my buddies and I were dawdling after work one Sunday (i.e., we were hanging out in the shop hours after it closed...to the second movie and was going to be shot for the actual film before they ran out of money. Let me put it this way: Remember Doctor Doom from the Fantastic Four movies? Yeah, me neither.

The first time I saw the trailer for this movie (without knowing what it was for), I thought, 'Ooh, that looks interesting'. When I saw it was trailing Hellboy II , I was a little taken aback, mainly...as one of the most significant fantasists at work today, in any medium -- not to mention that seeing Hellboy II represented two of the most enjoyable hours I've spent watching a film in ages.
By the way, os recomiendo dos canciones, ok? Lexter: Freedom to Love Jes: Imagination (Tiesto Remix) (Someday, maybe someday)
... several points 1) It was Pride this weekend, so off we went to revel in gay-ery! It was ok. I even acquired a free pint from a rather drunken lady, and had my picture taken by a woman who liked.... but seriously, think of the future" 7 Lucky number seven!!!! I have saved to best till last: My Ruin are touring!!!!!!!!!!! And, dutifully, I have already purchased tickets for Manchester! :D:D:D:
Last night I had a Guillermo Del Toro mini film festival. Mitch went to Baltimore to watch the Orioles play the Yankees with his friend Rich. So I had the house to myself. I had put aside Pan's Labyrinth...meantime. It's lucky we have 3 cars. I wish I lived closer to work, otherwise I'd be prefectly happy just walking/biking to work. I'll def. make that a priority when I switch jobs in the future.
