pandorable and I caught this recently. When it was over, she summarized the problem with this movie with a single insightful comment: "I don't know why they made a movie about her." Exactly...different tale than the one peeking through letters and journals, but the story of Georgiana and Bess was dramatic enough, without needing changes made to it, changes that ultimately deadened the film

I kind of feel like both of these women this week. Money, men, and having had just about enough. I've always loved this scene.

I've just watched Battle Royale for the first time and the film is, as a friend would say, "beyond." The novel (perhaps a bit too dry) and the graphc novel (likely too many abnormally enlarged secondary... pivot upon our elders' desire to put the one against the other in the name of character-building? At least The Lord of the Flies ' chaos had the virtue of being Cold War-driven and self-generating

It was probably inevitable that Charlie Kaufman would step up and take the director's chair with one of his own scripts.  He has had close relationships with several of the directors he has worked with... and self-aggrandizing; which it is to a certain degree.  It is certainly one that I will be revisiting once the DVD gets released, and hoping for a good commentary from Kaufman. I know I haven't been really updating at all for a while with anything with substance in it, so let me gather and list the spotlights from the last couple of month so you know what's been going on, and...I didn't go to the pre-screening, I probably wouldn't have gone to see it in theaters, but it was very well worth my time. It was pretty much all shot here in Toronto, too, so that was cool as well

Boogie Man is a decent, kinda interesting film about Lee Atwater, the innovative, blues-playing wigga political operative of the first Bush Administration. Except for some cheesy, bad-seed-implying...living amongst the present American elites for quite some time. I hope Atwater asked God (or whomever Lee felt the need to appeal to) to help us all, because thanks to him, we sure as hell need it

I LOVED this outfit Renee Zellweger wore in Appaloosa-- The cobalt/bronze striped one you first see her in, when she comes to town. Love love love the cut of the bodice, and found an identical one...the pattern-- Watching The Count of Monte Cristo.. really terrible, was hoping there'd be better Regency costumes on the women. They look like a Laura Ashley picnic. Meh. It's almost unwatchable
